Love At First Click

Beware of false fingers...About 15years ago, it would have been quite weird sitting in front of a computer smiling away, totally oblivious to whatever is happening around you and chatting away with some stranger in cyber world.....However, these days, it seems to be the norm as online dating has come to stay through dating sites and social networks...As the number of dating sites and social networks grow, so does the number of singles willing to mingle and meet their significant other on such sites.....
This new system of dating tends to be competing with the traditional boy-meets-girl kind of dating. As rewarding as this kind of dating could be, one needs to exercise caution because the lack of face-to-face contact with the person you are chatting with gives room for shadiness and deciet...Moreover, these sites have no way of detecting if an uploaded photograph is the actual picture of the user....This means that someone with ulterior motive could hide under a completely falsified profile.....
As thrilling and exciting dating online could be, it is very necessary to tread carefully and exercise level of caution.....
I tell you, BE SCEPTICAL: No matter how well u connect with someone online, never assume the person is completely honest...Do not get too comfortable and open because you are still strangers and still do not know the user's motives....Be aloof so that you could have a better sense of judgement towards the person.........

WITHHOLD PERSONAL INFORMATION
: Just a way you wont give a stranger certain personal and private information, you should'nt give details to someone you just met online.....Wait till you graduate from being strangers to a closer relationship...

ASK..ASK.....ASK...: Whoever said asking too many questions were wrong? For everything you are not clear about, ASK!. Even those you have been given answers to, deliberately ask again once in a while..A liar can only tell u too many lies, sooner or later, he will rope himself in his web of lies and be trapped. So never assume or take his online bio for what it is...Always ASK!.

OBEY YOUR INSTINCTS: If u smell a rat, its probably because there is a rat. Do not out of desperation ignore all the warning signs you might be seeing. Never ignore your gut feeling that might just be your life saver.

RED SIGNALS: Be weary of shady and suspicious activities on their profiles; activities like inconsistency of names, picyures of wealth display, vulgar status updates, demand for personal information such as bank details and pay cheque figures, home address, monetary demands and any other thing that seems out of place.

INSIST ON SPEAKING ON PHONE: After you have developed a level of relationship with the user, it is advisable to graduate to phone calls...Hearing the person gives you an opportunity to decipher the character and ask on-the spot questions..You could tell a lot from the tone of one's voice.

MEET IN PUBLIC: If u still feel you are on the right track with this person and decide to meet after the above steps, do not go to his home or bring him to yours. Meet in a public place....Also make sure u tell atleast two people where you are going because you never know....

Whether you choose to meet a partner on dating sites, social networks, or even face-to-face, CAUTION is the keyword!!! LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!!!....
You see that "Look before you leap" is boldly typed....Hehe....Have a great time.

American Rapper 50 Cent To Partner With African Entrepreneurs.

When African-American music mogul 50 cent offered a million dollars to Africa’s literary giant Chinua Achebe for rights to use the title of his novel classic “Things Fall Apart,” he was turned down.  He simply changed the name and went ahead with the première of the movie. “Fiddy” as he is also called, is no stranger to setbacks. At the beginning of his rap career after signing what seemed to be a million dollar breakthrough record deal, he was shot point-blank nine times in front of his grandmother’s house.

The unrelenting artist who revived his career with the multi-platinum album “Get rich or Die Trying” has again offered his hand to Africa for business marketers to distribute his energy drink brand, SK Energy Shots.

The millionaire rapper, formally known as Curtis Jackson highlighted that the move to seek African business partners was inspired by his many travels through the continent of his ancestors.

“Everyone thought that we would expand immediately to Europe or South America. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel across Africa, and one thing I’ve learned is that it is filled with vibrant, young entrepreneurs who are eager to cultivate a sustainable business sector that will fuel growth for their future. That’s why I’m giving African entrepreneurs the chance to bring SK to their country.” said Jackson.

SK Energy was launched in September 2011 with a social mission to “feed a hungry child” by donating the cost of one meal to the United Nations World Food Program for the sale of every shot. A Forbes report recently noted that 50 Cent and his company have already written a check to the UN to cover the cost of 2.5 million meals.

The SK brand seeks to support the underprivileged in Africa.

Jackson also noted that the product has received a lot of interest in Africa. He will therefore be looking for a distributor in at-least each African country.

“I’ve had so much interest coming from Africa since I’ve launched SK. That’s why I’m opening up submissions to entrepreneurs across the continent to become distribution partners.” said Jackson.

50 cent is not the only global entertainer to seek business opportunities in the emerging African markets. O, The Oprah Magazine of Forbes-listed richest African-American Oprah Winfrey publishes in South Africa. In April 2002, it published its first South African edition. According to South African Advertising Research Foundation, its average readership was over 300,000.

A shrewd businessman, 50 cent made $100 million from the sale of Vitamin Water parent Glaceau to Coca-Cola in 2008 and is a familiar face in the Forbes annual Hip-Hop Cash Kings. Jackson has interests in Video games, the G-Unit clothing, a record label , Film production company and line of headphones with Sleek.

Entrepreneurs interested in the opportunity can download forms at where they will fill out their personal details, distribution plans and bank account details.

Celine Dion Bares It All In V Magazine

Nude photos are trending these days. And Celine Dion did not hesitate to join the bandwagon as she stripped bare for the latest issue of V Magazine, which is set to hit newsstands August 30.

The 44-year-old singer posed topless and even bottomless for photographer Sebastian Faena. In one photo, she playfully posed next to a dresser wearing only a ribbon headband, a pair of oversized hoop earrings, and a matching pair of black leather gloves and pants. Her bangs fell over her lively eyes, and the rest of her long hair flowed behind her flawless back.

In another shot, the French-Canadian mother of three covered her head with a bunny mask. She wore overalls that were strangely designed with toy bears all over on top of a light shirt. Jeremy Scott, who owns this exotic ensemble, tweeted this photo, saying, "CELINE DION IN MY @adidasoriginals BEAR PANTS STYLED BY THE LEGENDARY CARLYNE CERF 4 @vmagazine."

As the magazine promised, the photos let you see Celine Dion "as you've never seen her before."

In the issue, Celine Dion opens up about her spontaneous personality, which seemed to be the theme of the photo shoot. She confessed, "It doesn't seem this way on stage, but I'm playing a lot." The photo shoot, which took place in her extravagant home in Hobe Sound, Florida, was the first she did in six years that wasn't for promotional purposes.

She also reveals how much she treasures the gift of motherhood. Dion, who's blessed with three sons to longtime husband René Angélil, was quoted saying, "I thought I had a life before, but until I was a mom, I had no idea."

K.Solo And Wife Reunite.....

After accusations, claims, counters-claims and a well publicized fight between producer/singer Solomon Oyeniyi, better known as K Solo and his wife Kikelomo, the couple have reunited, saying the whole drama was a publicity stunt.

Kikelomo, who granted several tabloid interviews, accused K Solo of battery, claiming he once beat her so severely, she had a miscarriage. She also claimed to have been subjected to constant battery for varied reasons while the marriage lasted.

However, K Solo always denied all the allegations, claiming he never laid hands on his wife, and releasing his latest album ‘Mr Pedigree’ during their public spat.

In an interview, the couple came clean.

‘Nothing really happened, we were just having fun’, Kikelomo said.

K Solo, on his part, said ‘I’m a showbiz person, If I don’t do singing, I can do acting. What you guys actually saw was acting. A lot of people were taking Panadol for another man’s headache. But on the long run it was getting bigger and I was enjoying it because you know, places I’ve not received calls from in a while’.

And as to why the couple pulled the prank, K Solo and Kikelomo said it was just a test. ‘I used it to know who my good and bad friends are. She (pointing to Kikelomo) also used it to know her true friends.’

Meanwhile, Kikelomo, who is now pregnant, used the opportunity to apologize to all those who fell for their ‘prank’, ‘Thank you to everybody and also to all those we got to, like my mother-in-law because I broke into her house with the police and all that, it was part of the thing. And also my sister-in-law… I just want to tell them I’m sorry about all that and I’m sorry for going to the press’.

However, the couple failed to explain the photos showing multiple bruises sustained by Kikelomo, which circulated on the internet.

K Solo and Kikelomo say they plan to shoot a home video about the prank titled  'LOBATAN', saying it will be a comedy, and will feature Nollywood actors Odunlade Kolade and Funke Akindele.

  What A Prank!!!

My Grandmum Would Have Rejected Her Face On New N5000 Note Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti, grandson of Funmilayo Kuti, one of the women whose picture has been approved to appear on the proposed N5,000 note, on Monday said that his grandmother would not approve of the image if she were still alive.

Seun Kuti disclosed this at a question and answer session on the Channels Television’s Google+ Hangout.

“I do not have the power to stop the FG from printing the note but I would want the FG to remove my grandma’s face from the so-called note,” he said.

According to him, the Federal Government did not officially inform the Kuti family of the intended action “It was through the radio that we got to know that her face would be used…we were not officially contacted.”

The Afro-beat musician talked about his grandmother, Funmilayo Ransome –Kuti, his legendary father Fela Anikulapo Kuti, his own music with Egypt 80 band and life.

Speaking on the money to be spent in printing out the N5000 note, Seun Kuti said “If I had N40b I will rebuild the federal government primary and secondary schools, rather than waste it on printing the N5000 note. That note cannot solve Nigeria’s problems, the government should learn to invest in people…the Kuti family is more concerned about the development of the country not the naira. If I were the FG, I would establish more schools, improve on the educational system rather than come up with N5000 note idea".

He further said “the FG’s plan to crush down the social media cannot work because it is the one way through which we curb down the FG’s excesses".

Nigeria's Reigning Superstars Of Twitter...And The 'Top 5'

The era of pen pals or fans clubs are fast disappearing with the bug of information technology eating into every fabric of our everyday living. The most powerful tools of communication are shifting from what we used to know to what are taking over the way we socialise, even across great distances.

In today's fast paced world of inter-connectivity from one part of the world to another, the social networking utilities like Twitter and the Facebook top the bill. Between the two utilities, billions of people around the world socialise freely, sharing information and even doing businesses, regardless of boundaries and time zone differences.

Although Facebook is as good as it could get but Twitter has the edge for its configuration, which makes it very easy to determine the number of people who is connected with a person.

It has become a platform through which a person's popularity could be measured. Facebook, for all the goodies it offers has a limitation as to the number of people who could stay connected with a person. On Twitter, the number is limitless..

Currently, the champion of Twitter is the American diva, Lady Gaga, who has close to 30 million people following her on Twitter. Not even the most powerful man on the planet, the American President, Barrack Obama, comes close.

Next person is another entertainer, Justin Bieber,a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, producer and actor. He has close to 27 million followers.

In fact the first five spots are taken by entertainers, including Katy Perry, Rihanna and Britney Spears before a breather was given for President Barrack Obama to occupy the 6th place. After the American President, it was entertainers' party all the way.

Nigeria's entertainers may not play in the same league as their American counterparts but they sure can hold their own anywhere in the world. Gone are the days of the rag-tag entertainers who wait for handouts from people who, more often than not, ride on their prides, before throwing some tokens their way. Now they drive the best cars, live in most luxurious homes and some of them even fly their own jets to cruise around the world.

So, who are the Nigeria's superstars of the Twitter? While the question may not provide answer to a popularity check among Nigeria's entertainers it goes a long way in giving an insight into those making the entertainment industry tick.

Though the Twitter is updated constantly, almost every second of the day and that to a certain extent may affect the number of followers a star has at any point in time which may even change between a twinkling of an eye.

Top 5 superstars of Twitter

Tuface Idibia, P-Square or D'Banj may be the names on the minds of most people but none of these superstars come first on Twitter with the highest number of followers. The Nigeria's number superstar of the Twitter is the new music sensation holding the music industry spellbound.

Fast rising Nigerian pop star, Ayo Balogun popularly called Wizkid, is the most popular Nigerian artiste with a followers list of over 325, 100 people. No wonder, the little guy is snapping up every award here and there. Recently, he took the international scene by storm when he won the Best International Act (Africa) at the BET awards held in Los Angeles, USA.

Trailing him with a bit of meanness is the Koko Master, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known as D'Banj. No one can question D'Banj's popularity and the 'Oliver Twister' storm raiser has over 300,136 followers. At the last check, he was just some 25,000 short of overtaking the 22 year-old Wizkid.

In the third place is Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W. The guy does Rhythm and Blues and seems to be winning hearts with his deft delivery. He has over 230, 000 followers and breathing down his neck is another musician, Eldee, born Lanre Dabiri. He has over 202,000 followers.

Now, Nollywood makes it first entry and who could have pulled it off other than dear Genevieve Nnaji. Genevieve has been described as the queen of Nollywood and on the Twitter popularity check, the mother of one has not disappointed. As at last check, she has over 176,000 followers on her Twitter account. She can thus be regarded as the most famous female entertainer in Nigeria......

25% Men Wish To Rekindle Romance With Old Flame

One in five men pine to get back together with their first love hoping to reignite the passion.

One in five people and as many as a quarter of all men pine to get back together with their first love, a new survey has revealed.

Some 21 percent have said that they are secretly planning a reunion with their first lover - and men are most likely to carry a torch for an old flame, with 24 percent admitting they still lust after an ex.

But it isn’t just men. Supermodel Kate Moss, who began a four-year relationship with actor Johnny Depp when she was 21, said, years after their romance was over (but before she met husband Jamie Hince): “I just haven’t found anyone I want to spend long periods with. I don’t think I’ve completely got over my relationship with Johnny Depp.”

As many as 14 percent of people have actually got back in touch with an ex hoping to reignite the passion, and one in six men are still secretly in contact with a former partner, the Daily Mail reported.

It seems Londoners are the most likely to deceive their current partner, with 19 percent of people from the capital lying about being in contact with a former lover - and 100 percent of those who have made contact say they did so expressly to get back together.

People in the Midlands and Scotland are most likely to want to be reunited with their first love (24 percent), while Scots are the most likely to have attended a school reunion solely to get back with an old flame (10 percent).

Although women are less likely to get in contact with an ex, four in ten who do so on the quiet admit they hope to seduce them.

Social networking sites have made it easier to find and chat up an ex, with 74 percent of women using Facebook to link up with an old lover.

Men, meanwhile, are much more likely to keep in touch through email (33 percent) or text (31 percent).

But psychologists have warned that putting old relationships on an imaginary pedestal and attempting to reignite them is unhealthy and can be emotionally damaging.

Psychologist Professor Cary Cooper, of Lancaster University, said: “Our first love tends to leave a big emotional imprint. It tends to be a powerful experience and the memory sticks with us as a reminder of more carefree, uninhibited days.

“We forget the jealousy and the heartbreak and tend to view those days through rose-tinted spectacles. But it’s a mistake to think that 10 or 20 years down the line it could ever be the same, as our circumstances change and we have greater responsibilities.

“These people, particularly men, who pine after their first love are probably doing so because they’re unhappy about something in their current relationship but are afraid to confront it. It is escapism and avoidance and it’s not healthy. We may have children and mortgages now and that isn’t going to change just because we see an old flame again. Men are more likely to fall into this bracket because they are less monogamous and they have lower emotional intelligence than women,” he added.

Busta Rhymes Defends Unleashing It's "Dragon" For Free

Cash Money rap veteran Busta Rhymes recently discussed his new Year of the Dragon album and why he has no regret with putting it out without a price tag.
Busta said the loyalty and support fans have shown him for over 20 years influenced his decision.

"I've never put out an album for free before, but I've got people that have been rocking with me, spending their money for the past 20 years of my career," the rapper says. "I take great pleasure in aligning myself with people who understand what the 'Busta Rhymes brand' is about, and Google definitely has a whole lot of people who do." (Billboard)

A few days ago, Busa Buss talked to SOHH about the free jam-packed LP.

"The fourth reason is because this is the first album to ever come out for free from Busta Rhymes. This is my thank-you album. This is my album for the people that have been going with me for the last twenty years of my career. This is my gift to y'all. I really appreciate the love and support from throughout the years. This is to you." (SOHH 5 Reasons)

Earlier this year, the Flipmode Squad leader discussed landinig a joint venture with Cash Money and Google Music.

"The label situation is phenomenal. It's a marriage that I feel is a genuine one, and it's a deal that's a first of its kind because we sat at the roundtable and created something that's a one of one and it's a first of its kind," Busta said in an interview. "It's partnering up of Google and Cash Money together and being able to make a marriage and a merge in a support system that is unlike anything that's ever existed in the history of music. ... I think what makes the Google thing so incredible is that they realize how important it is for them to be a part of music. They realize how important they are, period. It's almost like, if you can't be found on Google, you don't exist in the world, for real. They understand that with that strength and with that power that they have, that it was almost blasphemous for them to not have their hands in music as well." (Sucker Free)

Mysterious Hand Of God Appears During Church Service

A story now in circulation in Calabar, Cross River State is that of a mysterious hand which appeared during a church service. The incident was said to have taken place at the headquarters of the Glorious Assemblies Ministries popularly known as Christ Endtime Military Academy during a crusade organized by the church.

According to reports, the mysterious hand was said to have appeared on the fourth day of the crusade radiating with light. It had pierced through the ceiling of the church building hen people noticed it with amazement.

The General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Timmy Larry described the hand as the hand of Jesus Christ and that a day before the mysterious hand appeared, a lady had seen a vision that a mighty hand came from behind and lifted and smashed a man. According to him, “the mysterious appearance of the hand came up on the fourth day of the programme.

“I was busy praying for people after coming out from seclusion. I was told of the hand by a Camera man, but before that event, I was talking to people about the right hand… It was revealed that 2012 was going to be an exceptional experience in His presence and I had told my people that the month of July was going to be a month of signs and wonders and it is the month this thing happened.”

A curious reader would ask that, since it was a cameraman that called the attention of the pastor to the hand, then he definitely must have caught it on camera! Nigerians can’t wait to see the hand of God......

N5,000 Note - Nigerians Say 'No'

Plans by the Central Bank of Nigeria to restructure the country's currencies, especially the introduction of N5,000 note, will facilitate corruption, promote money laundering and increase financing of terrorist activities, say stakeholders in the financial sector.

The stakeholders, said the introduction of the N5,000 note would adversely affect the economy and have a ripple effect on the populace.

"I hope the new N5000 note is NOT another policy somersault? With steps already taken by CBN itself to address money laundering in the country such as Know-Your-Customers, re-validation of banks' customers and the on going cashless Lagos, one wonders if the proposed higher denomination of N5000 will not undermine that effort, coupled with our inability to discover and disrupt terrorism financing," said Mr. Tunde Salman, a financial analyst.

He advised the CBN to delay the introduction of the higher note, until the year 2020, stating that, "What we needed now is how to replace the polymer notes (N5, N10, N20, and N50) that seemed not to have secondhand value in terms of durability

"If, however, they are desirous of introducing the N5000 note, I think the CBN can wait till year 2020 when we might have achieved that tall dream called 20/2020 for the introduction and elaborate launching."

Also speaking, Mr. Eghes Eyieyien, Chief Executive Officer, Pharez Consulting, said, "It is clearly a wrong move; it signals the interment of all the currencies which are to be turned into coins and will no doubt induce inflation. The cash culture of Nigerians and our history with such actions point to these facts. The sad thing is that we never seem to learn from history.

"Sanusi is too fixated on being applauded as a 'Reformer' such that he would introduce any kind of change for its mere sake. That President Goodluck Jonathan cannot see the destructive impact of Sanusi's many ill-conceived ideas is perplexing."

In his own view, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, an economist and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company, FDC, Plc, said, there is no need for a redenomination of the currency, especially with the cashless policy.

He said, "With the cash-less policy, we do not need the high denomination notes as everybody is going cash-less."

Also speaking, Dr. Samuel Nzekwe, immediate past president, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, said, "The introduction of high denomination would make it possible to carry large sums around. One of the reasons the local currency was depreciating was as a result of the inactive manufacturing sector and the import-oriented nature of the country.

"Most of the commodities consumed in the country were imported from abroad and this is making the currency to lose value."

Mr Olumide Adegoke, General Manager, Standard Alliance Insurance, said, "The higher note could encourage corruption as it would be easy to carry huge sums within the system.CBN should also be looking at ways of checking inflation."

Dr Solomon Nyagba, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA), said, "It is clearly a wrong signal for the economy. Denomination is not the issue, the most important step is to encourage local production which will strengthen the currency and rev up the economy.

"Any economy that is dependent on importation will never be stable no matter the size of the denomination."

Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje, Chief Executive Officer, Resource and Trust Company, RTC, Limited, said, "It will also cost money; a cost I find indefensible, given the quite recent notes (polymer etc) introduced by immediate past CBN governor, Soludo. It does seem that unclear motives and logic permeates this proposal.

"I, however, do not accept that there is scientific or econometric evidence to support the position that higher denomination currency automatically, without more, will necessarily result in inflation.

"The only positive argument may be the lower cash processing cost that may be incurred by banks with higher currency denominations. I do not consider this benefit sufficient justification for this seeming diversionary policy."

However, Special Adviser to the President, National Assembly Matters, Senator Joy Emodi said that the image of three distinguished women on the proposed N5,000 note was an honour for women.

She said, "The move is historic for Nigerian women, as it marks the first time any government, will bestow them with this magnitude of recognition and respect.

"The remembrance of these great women long after their death shows that our roles in times of national challenge will eventually fish us out as heroes or villains."

However, Mr. David Adonri, Chief Executive Officer, Lambeth Trust & Investment Company Limited, said, "The proposed introduction of higher denominated currencies may reduce the cost of producing currency notes. Fewer notes will be required for high volume transactions.

"Due to high velocity in use of lower denominated currencies, coins can withstand rougher usage and last longer, thus further reducing cost to the monetary authority. However, acceptability of use of coins in the country could pose a major challenge to its reintroduction.

"I am not convinced about the causal relationship between higher denominated currencies and increase in inflation as believed by some critics of the policy. I believe that structural deficiencies in the economy, exacerbated by fiscal indiscipline are the main factors fueling inflation in Nigeria."

Commenting further, Eyieyien said, "Some examples of Sanusi's many ill-conceived and inane ideas are: Stopping banks from having Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, in non-branch locations after their huge investments and later reversing the policy at more costs; The "Cash-lite" Lagos fiasco which has seen frequent adjustment of the minimum amounts for withdrawal.

"There is also the AMCON charade that has created an over N4 trillion liability (almost equal to the annual Federal Budget!) through 'bonds' that can never be repaid; illegal and unconstitutional Islamic Banking; huge margin of about 2500 basis points between average bank deposit rates and lending rates consequent of CBN's failed monetary policies and its unwillingness to deal with it.

"Unnecessary confrontation with the National Assembly and failure to submit CBN budget to the law makers through the Minister of Finance, as all 31 government corporations (including the CBN) are required to do per provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, because of Sanusi's ego and arrogance.

"Derailment of the CBN's focus by so called 'interventions' in non-core statutory functions such as its investment in multi-billion Naira hotel and conference centre projects like that being planned for UNIJOS and Abuja; CBN's dabbling into issues of fiscal policy through "special funds" thereby usurping the role of Ministry of Finance

"These are just some examples of the very disappointing actions of the CBN under Sanusi which make one wonder why the President is unable to show him the door out of office."

FG Recovers N400 Billion Part of Fuel Subsidy Fund - NEC

Abuja — The Federal Government said on Thursday that it had recovered part of the over N400 billion money allegedly stolen from the fuel subsidy fund.

Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents on the outcome of the National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.

Obi, who did not disclose how much government had recovered so far, said the council was in support of the Federal Government taking legal action to recover the money in full.

"From the report we got today, some have started refunding; it is a serious case that people were paid for vessels that were not anywhere near the Nigerian waters.

"And I think that when the Federal Government does a thing that is courageous and right, it should be encouraged to do more.

"We support the Federal Government in its effort to clean up the entire value chain and process of the petroleum industry; it has our full support.

"Council commends the Federal Government on its stand in the prosecution of those who were wrongly paid the subsidy money and on the need for them to refund it fully," he said.

About 25 oil marketing and trading companies were indicted in the fraudulent diversion of the subsidy fund.

They were alleged to have collected the money meant to subsidise imported petroleum products but failed to import the products.

Some of the Chief Executives of the indicted companies have already been charged to court for alleged criminal offence by the EFCC.

Obi said the council also considered the briefing by the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on the progress made so far by the Subsidy Re-investment Programme (SURE-P)

He said NEC endorsed the plan to launch the SURE-P youth engagement and employment initiative in all the states.

Obi said state governors were encouraged to sensitise their people on the processes for job selection and payment to beneficiaries, beginning from Sept. 6.

He said the programme would generate about 270,000 employment opportunities at the Federal level and 5,000 in each state.

NEC is the country's highest economic decision making body, which is statutorily presided over by the Vice President.

Members of the council are the 36 state governors, the FCT Minister, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Ministers of Finance and National Planning, the Chief Economic Adviser to the President and the governor of CBN.

Microsoft Changed Its Logo For The First Time In 25 Years.

Microsoft Corp. unveiled its first logo branding update in 25 years. As you can see, it’s a minimalist interpretation of its traditional Windows icon probably to represent its intent to provide clearer, more approachable products in the new Windows 8 era.

Already comments are circulating that the new Microsoft logo is not bad, but not really an improvement or departure of its prior icon. From a marketing and branding perspective, the new icon does resolve many conflicts and problems.First, it combines two images associated with Microsoft – namely the company name and its core product Windows. That resolves the multiple iconic brands in circulation.

Second, it provides a common look and feel that will extend to all of the Redmond, Wash., software giant’s products. As Jeff Hansen, general manager of Microsoft’s brand strategy said, “This wave of new releases is not only a reimagining of our most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so our logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning.”

Where this brand shouldn’t extend is to the partner level. The Microsoft logo is one of the most popular brands among solution providers who use it to legitimize their offerings, validate their expertise and demonstrate value to customers.

Solution providers will put the Microsoft logo and their partner status on their Web sites. They’ll include the Microsoft logo in their marketing materials and collateral. Some will even include it on their sales quotes and proposals.

Where solution providers shouldn’t use the Microsoft logo is on their business cards and signage. Unfortunately, many do. And they use other vendor’s logos, too, including Dell, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and VMware, to name a few. Some solution providers will make a vendor logo more prominent on their business cards than their own monikers.

Using a vendor logo on a solution provider business card is a mistake. Solution providers don’t spend enough effort developing their brand identity, value or equity. Too many trade on the equity of their vendor brands, hence, the reason Microsoft appears on so many channel business cards.

Solution providers should avoid leaning on their vendor brands for value and identity and develop their own value propositions. Their brands should reflect their core business proposition and value delivered to customers beyond what hardware and software products they represent.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Microsoft’s new corporate icon. It suits them well, but that doesn’t mean it should suit their partners as well.

BlackBerry 10 Devices To Feature 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro Chipset.

RIM’s BlackBerry 10 update is on schedule for a release in Q1 2013 and once handsets arrive they’ll be packing some series processing power thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset.

BlackBerry OS is reporting that RIM’s upcoming fleet of BlackBerry 10-powered devices will feature Qualcomm’s Qualcomm's S4 Pro MSM8960T processor. The publication’s source is said to be reliable and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours about RIM using Qualcomm chipsets.

In the first half of 2012 RIM’s ex-co-founders said that one of the chief reasons for the delay with BlackBerry 10 was that the company was waiting for the right chipsets to become available –– we’re going to assume that Mike Lazaridis was talking about Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro, here.

Clocked at 1.5GHz and featuring the new Adreno 320 GPU, Qualcomm’s S4 Pro system-on-a-chip with its 28nm process and OpenCL-support is something of a monster. Initial Quadrant benchmarks taken by Know Your Mobile at the processor’s second launch in San Francisco were truly staggering, consecutively finishing in the high 7000s.

The processor, designed to pick up where Qualcomm’s S4 Snapdragon left off, is now being used in around 120 OEM designs, according to Qualcomm. Within the context of RIM’s BlackBerry 10, the chipset will be clocked at 1.5GHz, support beyond 1080p display resolutions, 3D console-like gaming, and, of course, LTE on-die and advanced multitasking.

‘We are excited about the Snapdragon S4 Pro processors’ potential for consumers, and about the upcoming Windows 8 platform,’ said Luis Pineda, senior vice president of computing and consumer products, Qualcomm.

If you like BlackBerry and are thinking about getting one of its BlackBerry 10 handsets, this should be music to you ears. Qualcomm’s S4 Snapdragon Pro is just about the best mobile chipset ever created. It has to be seen to be believed.

Gadhafi Son To Be Tried Next Month.

The trial of the son of slain Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi will begin in September, a spokesperson with the country’s prosecution said Thursday.

Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, 40, will be tried in the town of Zintan, AFP reported. Gadhafi has been kept in detention in the mountain town since last year.

More specifically, a source, who was not named, told Reuters that Gadhafi would be put on trial “probably the second week of the month” of September.

His charges include complicity and the ordering of the killing of protesters when unrest broke out in February 2011, which eventually led to a civil war that ultimately ousted his father’s regime.

Prosecutor general spokesperson Taha Nasser Baara dismissed claims that the trial will be held in Zintan because the local militia ordered it.

“Zintan is a Libyan city and the law allows us to try Saif in the majority of Libyan cities, in that these crimes concern the whole country,” Baraa told the news agency, adding that “cities far from the capital are more secure.”

Gadhafi has said that he wants to be tried in The Hague-based International Criminal Court, but local Libyan officials have refused to budge.

There has been speculation that Gadhafi, if convicted, will face the death penalty.

Baraa said, “During investigations, there was no intervention by the ICC,” while the prosecutor general’s “evidence is sufficient to condemn and judge him,” AFP reported.

Gadhafi was at one time considered his father’s right-hand man and was essentially groomed as his successor.

Sauce Kid Denies Signing With US Rapper Wiz Khalifa

Sinzu (formerly known as Sauce Kid) has denied rumours he has signed a deal with US rapper Wiz Khalifa. At least for now…

Some blogs had reported that Sinzu and his management, Sinzu Music Group, had signed a partnership deal with Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Records. The news was further fueled by photos of an SMG member meeting with Khalifa at a popular radio station in New York city.

It seemed the news was authentic, as just last month, Wiz tweeted about him and Sinzu hanging out. ’Burning one with my dude @SinzuSMG, young niggas tatted up #TGOD’, @RealWizKhalifa tweeted on July 26, 2012.

Surprisingly, the tweet seems to have disappeared from Wiz Khalifa’s Twitter timeline.

Sinzu has however come out to clear the air ‘Is it coz we both tatted n get high? SMG Gang over any other Gang. Sinzu‘, he tweeted, referring to the rumours of the signing.

‘People are just excited, anything is possible, but if it’s not written on black and white then there’s nothing to celebrate about‘, a rapper and close associate of Sinzu tells NET. ‘People are excited, I can understand. It would have been a perfect way for Sauce now that he’s finding his feet again’.

Attempts to reach Sinzu and his manager Capo proved futile.

Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Records boasts of 11 artistes, including longtime crunk rapper Juicy J (of Three 6 Mafia), Ethiopian-born Lola Monroe, three producers, three directors and 10 crew members.

Sinzu ended his ties with Storm Records last year, set up Sinzu Music Group and underwent a brand change, switching his name from Sauce Kid to SinzuSMG. He has released a few singles since then, including the hit song ‘Carolina’ featuring pop star Davido, ‘L.O.K.O‘ with Timaya and a remix to ‘E don dey madt’ with 2face, M.I and Lynxxx....

The shoot, directed by Maybach Music Group official films director, Spiff TV lasted  for two hours.

Prezzo Comes To Naija To Look For Goldie.

CMB Prezzo held a press conference in Lagos, Nigeria yesterday where he was once again put on his defence over his ‘shoddy’ treatment of Nigerian star Goldie, when they were both in the Big Brother Africa house between June and August.

Wearing stunners and an off-white agbada, the self-proclaimed ‘king of bling’ said his main reason for visiting the West African country was to look for Goldie.

The Kenyan rapper, who came 2nd overall in the BBA contest, may return to Kenya empty handed today, but at least he poured his heart out to Nigerian journalists.

Prezzo is confident that his golden girl still has feelings for him.

Government Sets 12-hour Deadline For Twitter To Remove Hate Pages .

NEW DELHI: With 'inflammatory' material and 'morphed' pictures spreading communal hatred still continuing on Twitter, the government on Wednesday set a 12-hour deadline for the micro-blogging site to remove these hate pages or face action.

After the end of the deadline on Thursday morning, the government may impose a temporary ban on Twitter using available technical options.

"If Twitter fails to respond to our request, we will take appropriate action. We have asked the information technology ministry to serve them (the US-based site) a notice," home secretary R K Singh said.

Though the micro-blogging site on Wednesday responded to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) over fake accounts and promised to cooperate in removing "unlawful" content and handles, it has not responded to the IT ministry's notice.

The ministry had asked Twitter to remove 28 pages -- carrying inflammatory content with fictitious details relating to Assam violence - on Tuesday. Not getting any response from the website, the government on Wednesday set a deadline for removing these pages.

If the government decides to act on its threat, it is likely to ask internet service providers (ISPs) to block Twitter. ISPs can do it in two ways - blocking DNS and blocking IP addresses. The DNS method is most popular. It will stop people from accessing Twitter because the URL (www.twitter.com) will not be resolved by DNS servers managed by ISPs and a user will not connect to Twitter servers.

However, it is easy to bypass this block. There are tens of third-party DNS servers and a user can easily change his internet settings to bypass this block. The IP address method blocks the IP addresses belonging to Twitter but this too is easy to bypass through proxy servers and several other methods.

To block a website effectively, India will require the kind of web monitoring and firewall that China has built. China can block URLs not only by identifying keywords but also by carrying out deep inspection of web traffic flowing through its cables. This sort of infrastructure costs billions of dollars as well as takes time.

Indian agencies are exploring technical as well as legal options on whether they can actually close down Twitter as a last resort. "One of the options before them is to take help of the US which has some kind of legal arrangement with Twitter as its server is located in that country," an official said.

Admitting to difficulties, telecom minister Kapil Sibal said some websites had refused to share user information, contending that they were beyond the jurisdiction of India as their web servers were located in other countries.

"We have to make efforts in consultation with the websites and impress upon them to create an institutional mechanism to prevent misuse of technology," he told reporters outside Parliament.

A day after TOI reported the tussle between PMO and Twitter over fake accounts, the blogging site finally responded to India's concerns. "Twitter has responded. It is now actively reviewing and will locate the illegal content," said an official. "We will work with the website on this matter through the department of electronics and information technology," he added.

Twitter reportedly told the PMO that it could not respond earlier because it was not notified of the fake accounts through proper procedure. The PMO had written to the website about these accounts in June but received no response.

Twitter could be implying that it would have been better had PMO used the website's "reporting a violation" option through which anyone can notify it of illegal content or accounts.

For impersonation, the website's policy notes, "Twitter accepts and processes impersonation reports from the person being impersonated or someone legally authorized to act on his or her behalf."

"India is important to us and we would like to have clearer communication in these matters in future," Twitter told PMO.

TOI contacted the social networking website through its official Twitter accounts, seeking clarification on its communication with the Indian government, but did not get any response till late on Wednesday.

The government has so far ordered blocking of 310 web pages where morphed and inflammatory content were uploaded with the aim to incite Muslims in the wake of ethnic clashes in Assam. Except for 28 pages that appeared on Twitter, all other pages have been blocked or deleted.

Kanye West Ready To Drop D’Banj Over Don Jazzy Breakup, Steps In To Reconcile.

DB Records owner and pop artiste D’Banj is desperately trying to reconcile with his former Mo’ Hits partner Don Jazzy. In a bid to get his former maverick producer back, D’Banj asked Kanye West to talk to Don Jazzy. A few months ago the rap superstar called Don Jazzy to try and get the two Mo’ Hits owners to forget the past and work again.

According to the City People magazine, “Kanye West, believed to be at the center of the controversy that led to their fight is making efforts to reconcile them…Kanye West was not aware of the fight between D’Banj and Don Jazzy until 3 months ago and has been trying to get them together.”

The City People story goes on to say that “while he was in the studio with D’Banj some weeks back working on the remix of “Scapegoat” he brought the topic up again and asked D’banj why Don Jazzy was not in the US with him working on the song. D’Banj was said to have told him that they are still friends but work on different platforms now. Kanye was said not to be happy about the fact that his name was in the internet as one of the reasons the duo fell apart. He insists they get back together if he has to keep working with D’banj. He prompted D’Banj to once again try and make up with Don Jazzy.

“Recently D’Banj invited Kanye West to come to Nigeria for the video shoot of “Scape Goat” remix he did with Kanye. Kanye accepted but gave a strict condition that he will come only after he must have reconciled with Don Jazzy who must also be in the video.”

According to the City People story, after several attempts by D’Banj, Don Jazzy agreed to appear in the video on a condition that he gets paid for his appearance....Hmmmmmm

My Husband Is Not Gay, He Doesn’t Belong To Illuminati - Lady Di defends Charly Boy

Lady Di, who has been Charly Boy’s wife, for over 35 years, has defended her husband, saying all the stories about his sexuality and his involvement in the Illuminati cult, are all made up.

“This is not the first time it’s happening. The only difference may be due to the context through which the rumour went viral, but realistically, there is nothing new about the rumour, we have heard it over and over again…I think people try to merge his personal life and artistic life. Obviously, they cannot be same,” she said.

She emphasized that her husband has built his personal brand to stand the test of time.

“Charly Boy had always hated the fact that someone should live the life of others…he only wanted to be himself…he wanted in a very aggressive way to build a brand that will become an all time favourite to young people…but before then, we knew that controversy would sell quicker than anything else,” she said.

Hmm mm, then what's up with those nude pictures of his? Were they made up too? Or what do you think my people????

Arsenal Ready To Give Green Light For £15m

The Spanish giants have indicated they will meet the Londoners’ valuation of the midfielder in a development in negotiations between the two clubs.

Arsenal are ready to give the 24-year-old the green light to become the fourth player in five years to make the move from Emirates Stadium to Nou Camp.

Song is set to follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry in 2007, Alexander Hleb in 2008 and Cesc Fabregas in 2011.

Barcelona were encouraged when their exploratory enquiries for Song were met with the response that indicated the player would be available for the right price.

The Catalan club had initially refused to meet Arsenal’s £15m valuation of the player, but sources have told Goal.com that a deal at that price has now been agreed.

Song, who joined Arsenal, initially on loan, in 2005, is poised to be granted permission to discuss personal terms with Barcelona.

He explained in the wake of the club’s pre-season victory over Cologne on Sunday that he was flattered by Barcelona’s interest.

"I am not going to lie if I said there is no interest but I am at Arsenal and I am happy at Arsenal," he told Sky Sports. "Barcelona are the best team in the world, and speculation will always continue until the window closes."
Arsene Wenger will come under pressure from Arsenal fans to secure an immediate replacement for Song, who is the closest player in the Frenchman’s squad to a proven defensive midfielder.

Arsenal announced on Wednesday night that they had agreed to sell Robin van Persie to Manchester United for a fee believed to be worth £24m.

With £39m swelling the club’s coffers, Wenger will be expected to find a battle-hardened replacement for the Cameroon international, especially given that the squad is packed with attacking midfielders....

Multi-Links, MTS, Starcomms Merger Gives Birth To CAPCOM

A wind of change is blowing in Nigeria’s telecommunications market which has rekindled the hopes of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operators, as Multi Links, Starcomms and MTS conclude merger arrangements that would produce a strong network operator to be known as CAPCOM.

BusinessDay learnt that about $200 million has been injected by core investors into the new  firm, CAPCOM, fueling expectations  that the CDMA sector in Nigeria will be given a new lease of life.

For sometime, CDMA operators – also known as Private Telephone Operators (PTOs) have found it difficult to survive the stiff competition in the nation’s vibrant telecoms market.

Low capitalisation, poor promotion of CDMA technology, subscribers’ preference for GSM telephony, and corporate governance issues, have seen the fortunes of these CDMA operators dwindle over time.

Industry analysts told Business Day yesterday that this new development in the CDMA landscape would enable the sub-sector compete favourably in a GSM dominated telecoms market. It will be recalled that stakeholders have been clamouring for the resurrection of the CDMA sector through a bail-out.

CDMAs had earlier complained about the issue of funding which dwarfed their network expansion capabilities, even with the Unified License granted them by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).

As at today, only Visafone, itself a product of merger and acquisition involving Cellcom, ITN and Bourdex, can be said to be providing services on a particularly competitive scale. Starcomms, which at one time was the bride of the industry later experienced a decline in fortunes. With CAPCOM now in the offing, there is optimism that the CDMA sub-sector would bounce back, offering best-in-class telecoms services to Nigerians.

The deal document published by industry practitioners’ website, IT & Telecom Digest, says the strategy of the investment is “to invest $50 million in the equity of CAPCOM, transferable into the ordinary shares of Starcomms PLC—a 10-year established Nigerian telecoms mobile CDMA operator, with spectrum in the 1900MHz range—alongside $150 million of equity derived from CAPCOM’s existing shareholders.

“To simultaneously consolidate Starcomms with two other Nigeria CDMA—Multi-Links and Cyancom, formerly MTS—creating a single national Long Term Evolution (LTE) Broadband operator with 20Mhz of bandwidth in the 1900Mhz frequency range, to build from an existing combined 2012 base of 160,000 data consumers each paying $24- $32 per month to a base of 2, 500, 000 data customers by 2016.

“The $200 million investment funds the acquisition of Multi-Links and MTS; recapitalises Starcomms and provides it with sufficient capital and liquidity to finance its existing creditors and working capital; and permits it to expand its existing network through the introduction of 4G/LTE technology to become a major provider of Broadband services to Nigeria’s burgeoning consumers.”

IT & Telecom Digest further gathered that the emerging company has as its shareholders MBC, 53 percent shares; Middle East Capital Group, 25 percent shares while Helios Investment Partners holds 11 percent shares.

Others said to hold shares in the company include Oldonyo Laro Estate 5 percent; Bridgehouse Capital Limited 3 percent; Asset Management Company of Nigeria 2 percent and Private Equity Investors 1 percent.

This development portends a good omen for the CDMA sector in Nigeria and subscribers who dumped their land lines would dust them up and make good use of them once again. As a fall out of the new acquisition, the many known faces in the old Starcomms Plc board and management may no longer be seen.
As presented in the deal document, a new board of directors has been constituted to manage the affairs of the new company. Stefan Allesch-Taylor is being proposed as the Chairman....

M.I and Omawumi To Host The Headies 2012.

Singer Omawumi Megbele and hip-hop act Jude 'M.I' Abaga have been announced as hosts for the 7th edition of The Headies - One of Nigeria's biggest music awards event.
Executive producer of awards Ayo Animashaun announced today that the pair have been selected in line with the awards' tradition of picking 'talented and inspiring entertainers, to front an awards ceremony that parades some of the continent's biggest entertainers'.
'Its a very important year for us at The Headies, and for the Nigerian music industry in general', Animashaun, who founded the awards in 2006 says. 'And we found M.I and Omawumi, two great entertainers who are very passionate about their work, passionate about the music business and a great source of inspiration to young, up and coming Artistes, because of their peculiar stories climbing up'.
Omawumi, 30, came second on West Africa Idol, in 2007. Her success on that show provided a strong foundation for her career, and she hasnt looked back for a minute. With her debut single 'In the music' released in 2008, she established herself as a talent to court, and a singer whose eyes are on the global stage. The success of that single, won her the coveted 'Next Rated' prize at The Headies in 2009. The award came with a brand new KIA Optima. Omawumi has moved on to become a remarkably successful singer, actor, performer and philantropist.
Omawumi's co-host M.I, has risen from grass to grace, in just about half a decade. And, from a Jos-bred wanna-be, who worked hard to find a niche in the hip-hop community, M.I has now become the leading rapper and hip-hop ambassador or on the continent, with many medals to show for his achievements. The Chocolate City rapper is a multiple winner at The Headies, with his prizes including Best Rap Album and Revelation of the year (both in 2009). He has won a total of 9 Headies, starting from his first surprise win in 2008.
'I won my first Headie when no one knew who i was' M.I says. 'It was a big leap for me and my career and I can say the same for a lot of my colleagues. Several years after, I'm excited to be here, performing in a very important capacity, along with my very good friend, Omawumi'.
'You know one of the things over the years that have been traditionally so great about The Headies awards is the fact that they do two things well. You take us to the villages, we meet people where they dont really have water, we've done that. At the same time you take people to Brazil. A young person can look and be inspired and also aspire too', he concluded.

Organizers say both acts have already been getting together, sharing ideas and fine-tuning concepts, along with The Headies producers, in anticipation of a great show this year.
It's been fun, fun, fun for me' an already hyped up Omawumi comments.
The Headies 2012 according to organizers will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

5 Strange And Bad Tattoos

 5 STRANGE AND BAD TATTOOS.
May the following 5 strange and bad tattoos serve as a reminder to always pick a talented tattoo artist and design carefully so that you can enter the tattoo process without an ounce of regret.
Not only should a professional artist provide quality work, their integrity should be as such that they encourage you to avoid any silly and/or permanent mistakes.

Should you have your heart set on such a piece then by all means get tattooed with a passion from an artist who agrees to do the work. Just make sure you follow the process of selecting a professional artist and practice their suggested tattoo after care.

While tattoo removal can erase a bad mistake, it's a costly and painful process. Should your current tattoo resemble any of the following 5 strange and bad tattoos and you wish to make a change, see a tattoo artist first and consider covering up your old tattoo with a custom design that's sentimental and offers personal significance....
Take a look at the world of self-expression and decide; are the following 5 pictures strange and bad tattoos, or are they worthy of a permanent mark?
1 Superheroes
Even if you feel like the strongest man in the world, chances are depicting that image on your body is a superhero mistake. Especially when you add to your hero some sort of demonic or villan quality or trait. If you want to capture the symbol of strength or any otherworldly ability, seek out symbols or character representations that prove you've got some brains along with those good looks...

2 Ribbons And Bows
While ribbons and bows can have a sweet and seductive charm to them, be careful where they are placed. This tattoo does nothing for her shape or her legs. Not only are the bows too big, the placement is just right smack in your face. Place a bow where you'd like to unwrap something and let your mind and imagination linger from there....

3 Technology And Microchips
Just as time flies and technology changes, so do tattoos. This quirky micro-chip tattoo has already been done along side the barcode tattoo trend. Not only are these witty and comical tattoos played out, they serve really no distinct purpose other than the speculation of the future. Rather than live in the future, live for today and opt for a tattoo that defines who you are. That can't be just a number, right?....

4 Flying Objects
Anything that flies that normally shouldn't such as a pig, clock, a cow over the moon or a camera may prove to be a mistake later, mostly because you'll likely spend your entire life explaining to complete strangers what your tattoo means and why it flies. If you're brave enough to opt for a strange tattoo such as a flying camera, seek out a talented artist and at least have them do a colorful and quality job....

5 Sport Stars And Glory Day
We've all been there. Glory days such as high school sporting events will always hold a special place in our hearts. Whether you were the captain of the team or simply cheering on the boys from the sidelines, there is simply no reason to tattoo anything like 'Throw it in her butt' on your body.
Not now and most certainly not during your glory days.....

Oh Well, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and Art is subjective.....
