Attitude Not Corruption Is Nigeria's Problem, Says President Jonathan.

President Goodluck Jonathan claimed today that Nigeria’s biggest challenge to good governance is not corruption, but the attitude of Nigerians.

Jonathan submitted this theory today in Yenagoa during a flowery tribute that he paid his former national security adviser, General Andrew Owoye Azazi, at Azazi’s burial.

President Jonathan stressed the need for attitudinal change among Nigerians for things to work and the country make progress.

His remark was provoked by the comment made by the Rt. Rev. Hyacinth Egbebo, the Catholic Bishop of Bomadi, who attributed the cause of accidents on Nigerian roads to bad roads created by corruption in government.

The president rejected the submission and instead retorted, “If Nigerians would change their attitude, you will realise that most of these issues being attributed to corruption are not caused by corruption".

“Recently, I met with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps who told me that they had discovered that majority of the road accidents are recorded on good roads.

“So you can see it is not a matter of corruption, it is an issue of the people’s attitude.’

'Whitney Houston Was Murdered' Claims Private Investigator.

Whitney Houston was murdered, according to claims by private investigator Paul Huebl published in the National Enquirer.

The Hollywood detective has allegedly uncovered evidence - including CCTV footage - that points to her being the victim of an attack by two men who were sent to collect a debt for drugs.

The troubled "Bodyguard" singer, who died on February 11 2012 at the Beverly Hilton, is said to have owed in excess of $1.5 million to dangerous dealers before her shock death in Los Angeles.

“I have evidence that points to Whitney being a victim of high-powered drug dealers who sent thugs to collect a huge debt she owed for drugs,” he told the tabloid.

He also believes that despite a coroner's report that claims there was no foul play involved, the signs on her body tell a different story.

“Whitney’s body shows classic defense wounds that would have occurred while she was battling for her life,” he said.

Huebl claims to have discovered the new information through a network of informants and says he is now handing the evidence over to the FBI in an attempt to have the case reopened.

Shakira Is Not Yet A Mommy, But Gerard Pique's A Joker.

Shakira is not yet a mommy, no matter what her partner, Gerard Pique, might say.

"Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo!" Pique wrote Thursday in his native Spanish on Twitter, announcing the "birth" of the couple's new son. "Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!" (Roughly translated, that's, "We're very happy, thanks to everyone for the messages."

So, was it baby time? Not exactly. Just the father-to-be taking part in a little local tradition.

Apple Developing An iWatch?

If you believe the rumours, Apple are developing a ‘smart watch’. If Apple’s maps are anything to go by, these watches could tell you anything (just like their iPhones that didn’t know anything about British Summer Time and the like).

According to claims, this new smart watch will be an Apple/Intel tagteam and that the watch will be Bluetooth-enabled and have a 1.5-inch touchscreen and work with the iPhone.

Presumably, this means you’ll be able to make calls and perform various operations via your watch.

Another rumour is that Apple have paid the Swiss Federal Railway a huge amount of money so they could use its trademark in iOS (around $21 million for the licence, apparently).

So, an iWatch could well be a thing. What do you make of that? Does the world need smartwatches????

Nas Sued For $10 Million For A No-Show.

It seems the latest legal drama surrounding Nas is the result of him not showing up for a gig in Angola.

Patrick Allocco, the concert promoter, who says he was kidnapped at gunpoint and helf for ransom because of Nas’ no-show in Angola, is now suing Nas.

As TMZ first reported, Patrick Allocco says he was kidnapped in December 2011 in Angola because Nas failed to show up for a New Year’s Eve concert after taking a $300,000 pay day.

Allocco says he was held as ransom by Angolan promoters and their “henchmen” because they wanted their cash back. He was finally released in February 2012.

According to a new federal lawsuit filed Friday, Allocco wants the rapper to pay for what happened to him. Specifically, he claims he was held captive for 50 days — during which time he says he was beaten and threatened constantly.

Allocco is suing Nas for $10 million, claiming he suffered psychologically, physically and financially. He claims that while stuck in Angola, he was unable to do business … and as a result lost his home and his company.

They Have reached out to Nas, but so far no word back.....

He spoke in Calabar while welcoming the Vai Vai Samba from Brazil, a guest team that is expected to lead the street procession during the carnival.

Will Justin Bieber's Behavior Ruin His Career?

Is Justin Bieber getting too big for his boots? According to New York Daily News, Bieber’s behaviour is getting a bit too much to handle and is threatening to ruin that squeaky-clean image that they’ve all worked so hard to construct around him.

“Justin doesn’t seem to care (that his career may be in jeopardy) and does whatever he wants,” an insider told NYDN and added “he doesn’t listen to anyone.”

Top of the list of Bieber’s behavioural crimes seems to be that he’s smoking weed all day and “orders everybody around.” It doesn’t help, it would seem, that he is surrounded by people who “say ‘yes’ to anything he wants.” All in all, it sounds like Bieber is finally being exposed a spoilt brat, after years of being portrayed as an angelic young role model – the kind of kid you’d be happy for your kids to bring home.

Well, that illusion is well and truly starting to shatter and one source says “This could really damage his reputation if they don’t get it under control. Justin is someone young teens look up to and this kind of behavior can really hurt his career. Just look at what happened with Britney Spears.” What? he might shave his head and then be asked to judge X Factor?

Whether or not his behaviour has anything to do with his split from Selena Gomez is unclear but it looks as though those two are starting to patch things up now. Bieber’s reps at Def Jam have declined to comment on the rumours but young Justin will have to start playing ball if he wants his angelic image to remain intact.

First Gay Bible Published - "Queen James Version".

The world's first 'gay bible' has been published to coincide with the debate on same-sex marriage.

Titled the 'Queen James Bible', its editors claim that it is a re-working of the King James Bible translated in a way that "prevents homophobic misinterpretation of God's Word".

'Homosexuality was first overtly mentioned in the Bible in 1946 in the Revised Standard Version. There is no mention of or reference to homosexuality in any Bible prior to this – only interpretations have been made', the book's official website said (queensjamesbible.com).

The publication was printed and bound in the United States.

The sales pitch on the website says: 'you can’t choose your sexuality, but you can choose Jesus. Now you can choose a Bible, too'.

"The Queen James Bible addresses those controversial verses editing them very slightly for interpretive clarity. The edits all confirm that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, and therefore renders such interpretations impossible," the editors continued.

The book is on sale on Amazon.com for US$32. 95.

Douglas J Moo, Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College and a professional Bible translator, said the Queen James editors' assessment of past translations is not entirely accurate.

“Few, if any English translations use the actual words 'homosexuality' or 'homosexual.' But the history of English translation shows that versions have consistently used other language to refer to what we would call homosexual relationships,” said Moo.

“For instance, the King James Version of Romans 1:27 refers to 'men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly.

“It would be very difficult to deny that this language, and the language found in many other places in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, refers to homosexuality,” Moo argued.

Really, Its the End Time!!>

Mad Woman Miraculously Regains Her Senses After Being Hit By A Car.

The story has been told about the miraculous cure of a 40-year-old mentally ill woman who has been simply identified as Olubisi Aina at Sanyo area of Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday, 11th December, 2012 after an auto accident.
According to the Tribune, which reported the story, the way and manner in which Olubisi Aina regained her sanity after about a decade or more of insanity is amazing and it could be described as a wonder. Aina had been insane for 10 years or thereabout and paraded herself, most often nakedly, on the Sanyo-Temidire-Agbamu road, her habitation for over a decade.
She usually slept on her back with her face up in drainages or on the main road close to the bridge on Damo River in the area; and come rain or shine, Olubisi was always in her habitat and is well known in the neighbourhood.
Perhaps that was her saving grace on Monday, 10th December, 2012 when a car ran over her where she was sleeping at about 9a.m.
Olubisi was quickly rushed to Oore-Ofe Hospital and Maternity Home where her bruised mouth and legs were attended to. However, after being discharged, patron of the hospital, Mr Toyin Adesina, advised that she should have a bath. She was later led by acquaintances to Damo River where she was given new sponge and soap for her bath. As she raised the sponge above her head, she said “Thank you God” in Yoruba Language. Instantly, she regained her sanity and whatever question was posed to her, she answered accurately!!!. What A Miracle.

Nigerian Actor May Have Committed Suicide.

Days after the sad news of the demise of Nollywood actor Enebeli Elebuwa in an Indian Hospital was received, a source which claims to be a close friend of the deceased has said the actor committed suicide.

The source believes his friend committed suicide after suffering stroke for months and losing all hope in living.

The source said after they learnt of the death of fellow actor Pete Enebeli, the actor contacted his friend and spoke the following words to him:

“I’m suffering [name of friend], I need a peaceful place. See my condition is getting worse daily. I need a better place.”

The close friend said after that call, he quickly paid the actor a visit in India to better hear from him.

Enebeli, according to the close friend, said he was not happy about his condition though the doctors at the hospital were taking good care of him.

Enebeli Elebuwa told me, “please tell the doctors, I need a better place”, the friend said.

“I said there is no better place than here now when your time is over, God will take you by himself. Don’t worry I will be here for you.

Because of his condition I changed my ticket to leave India one month later because I think he needs someone to talk to constantly,” the friend said.

The man further said he left the hospital for his hotel that day and to his surprise, on getting to the hospital the next morning, he learnt Enebeli had died.

“One thing I forgot to do is to tell the doctors to put him on suicide watch......But whatever happens, I know he is in a better place. He is irreplaceable. I will forever miss him.......May the soul of my best friend Andrew rest in peace,” concluded the source......

Lady Gaga Threatened With Arrest, $50,000 Fine For Promoting Gay Rights In Russia.

Lady Gaga is the latest artist to offend Russian conservatives, who have accused the pop star of spreading "pro-homosexual propaganda" in the country.

Gaga championed gay rights while performing at the SKK Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia, during a weekend concert, the Guardian reports.

On Sunday, a translator told the crowd that Gaga wants respect for gay rights. "Lady Gaga wants to say that she expects respect from others –- she's not here to offend anyone's religion or faith, she's here to unite us."

However, Gaga's call for gay rights did not sit well with Vitaly Milonov, the conservative behind Russia's law banning "homosexual propaganda," according to MSN News. He plans to launch an investigation against the pop star.

In March, St. Petersburg banned "homosexual propaganda" after calls from conservatives and Orthodox Church officials, the Guardian previously reported. The law criminalizes "public action aimed at propagandising sodomy, lesbianism, bisexualism, and transgenderism among minors."

The pop singer was reportedly warned about vocalizing support for the gay community during her Russia show. Gaga was allegedly threatened with arrest and a $50,000 fine during a phone call to her managers before the show, according to Reuters. That didn't stop the "Born This Way" singer.

"We will contact prosecutors and the law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough investigation of the situation," Milonov told Russia's Life News regarding the Gaga incident, according the Guardian. "When people tell kids 'you must support sexual minorities', that can create a false equivalence for them between traditional and non-traditional relationships."

"We saw that in addition to music, songs and such, there were direct calls for 12-year-old citizens to support the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community," Milonov added, according to Reuters.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev recently spoke out against this discriminatory law, saying in a televised interview on Dec. 7 that "not all relations between people can be regulated by law," the Associated Press reported. Gaga expressed her gratitude to Medvedev before performing in the country.

How To See Your 2012 Highlights On Twitter.

You may already know that President Barack Obama's "Four more years" was the top post on Twitter in 2012.

But what was yours?

As part of its annual year-end roundup, the micro-blogging site is for the first time letting users look back to see their own activity, from their most-shared tweet to their most-used words and even their "Golden Follower."

The tool "My Year On Twitter," created by social data aggregators Vizify, collects tweets since January to rank users' activity.

"Every day, we're amazed and humbled by the many ways in which people use Twitter, which range from simply retweeting to igniting conversations with hashtags (even around lesser-known topics) to sharing spectacular and far-flung views," Twitter editorial director Karen Wickre wrote in a blog post.

In addition to letting users see their most shared tweet and the follower who has interacted with them the most, the feature shows the 10 words users employed most often. It also lets users scroll through a timeline of their 2012 tweets.

The feature is a personal twist on what's become a yearly tradition for Twitter: rounding up the most high-profile uses of the site.

Obama's post-election tweet, featuring a photo of him and first lady Michelle Obama hugging, was retweeted more than 810,000 times and "favorited" more than 300,000. It became the most retweeted post in the site's history.

Other top tweets included teen pop idol Justin Bieber's tribute to a 6-year-old fan who died of brain cancer and a profane screed by Green Bay Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang after a controversial call by one of the NFL's replacement referees helped lead to a loss for his team.

The site's most popular hashtag was #nowplaying, used to talk about music, with #oomf (short for "one of my followers") coming in second.

#NFL was the top sports term, "Family Guy" topped the TV list and rapper Rick Ross was No. 1 among music tweets. (Shockingly, Twitter darling Bieber didn't make the Top 10.)

The site also listed some of the most influential people who joined the site in 2012, from actress Betty White to rocker Neil Young to soccer legend Pele and Pope Benedict XVI......

Wole Soyinka - Corruption Has Eaten Deep In Nigeria.

Noble Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has said that corruption was being used as a unifying factor in Nigeria as it had eaten deep in all sections of the country with no restriction.

Soyinka stated this yesterday while speaking at the Second Muazu Babangida Aliyu Annual National Literary Colloquium at Justice Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre, Minna.

He said that corruption was an heinous crime against the nation that must be tackled by every means possible saying that it was not restricted to any region, religion , tribe or ethnic group.

The literary icon maintained that since it was not restricted to any section of the country it could be seen as a unifying factor even as it has gradually destroyed the value and sense of nationhood.

Soyinka therefore urged writers to rise up against corruption.

He said writers should find solution to the problem of corruption and other vices through proper research works instead of bemoaning the situation.

Soyinka recalled that when the advance free fraud started in Nigeria it was called 419 and some writers gave it names as it was seen as a means of repatriation instead of rising against the scourge.

According to him vices like kidnapping should not be blamed on unemployment but a product of criminally minded individuals who are out to undermine the freedom of others for their own greed.

He  said, “let us not trivialise issues, it is criminal for anyone to throw bomb at market places and places of worship under the guise of marginalisation” adding that, “there is a difference between one taking arm against the authority and declaring war against the nation”.

Meanwhile, the colloquium followed the commissioning of Cyprian Ekwensi Library at F-layout Minna. The colloquium attracted 44 writers with Professor Charles Nnolim, Odia Ofeimun and Ahmed Maiwada as discussants and chaired by Professor Samsudeen Amali of Nassarawa State University........

Twitter Releases Photo Filters.

Twitter announced Monday that it was stepping into the photo-sharing business with a new editing tool that allows mobile photographers to enhance, crop and apply filters to their snaps.

It’s a direct shot against Instagram — formerly a close Twitter partner. The two companies have hit a rough patch since Instagram was purchased by Facebook earlier this year. On Sunday, Instagram pulled the ability to preview photos taken with its software on Twitter.....

With Twitter’s new tool, filtered photo appear on a users’ Twitter stream along with short captions. Users can also edit a picture from their phone’s library to share over the micro-blogging service.

The editing tool offers a range filters with different tints and hues, but all add the same sort of weathered look that made Instagram’s photo treatments so popular. Users can try on different filters by swiping from either edge of the screen.

Android users can get their hands on Twitter’s new app now. The Apple version of the new app is not out yet, although Twitter said in a company blog post that both versions were on their way soon.

The new software offers an alternative to those who want their photos to show up directly in their Twitter streams. At launch, however, Twitter’s photo editing program lacks a few options that are familiar to Instagram users.

At the moment, the Twitter app offers eight filters to Instagram’s 18. Instagram also offers the ability to set selective focus on a picture, known as tilt-shift. Instagram has also recently rolled out deeper integration with the check-in social network Foursquare.

Instagram users, of course, can now display their photos on the Web profiles the company rolled out last month. Mobile photographers can still direct Twitter followers to those pages with a link.

Last week at the Paris technology conference LeWeb, Instagram co-founder and chief executive Kevin Systrom said the company made the decision to limit its Twitter integration to promote these profiles and user engagement.

“We want that to be on Instagram.com because we think it’s a better user experience, currently,” Systrom said at the conference.....

Tuface Disclosed The Reason He Had A Secret Wedding.

For the first time, Nigerian music star Tuface Idibia has opened up about his marriage to Annie Macaulay last year.

Tuface secretly wedded longtime fiancée Annie Macaulay on Wednesday, May 2, 2011 at a private registry wedding in Lagos, Nigeria.

The wedding put to rest the lingering question of whom and when the musician was going to marry after speculations that he has been linked to several females.

The relationship between the African Queen singer, born Innocent Ujah Idibia, and Annie, who appeared in the song’s video, was apparently drama-free.

The two were believed to have dated for 13 years and have a daughter, Isabella Idibia, together.

Tuface disclosed in an interview with the Punch Nigeria that he settled on Annie because she “is my first and true love. I had known her before I met the other women in my life. As a Christian, I had to marry one woman and it just had to be Annie.”

According to him, “We had a secret wedding after we had reached an agreement and amicable understanding about the mothers of my children. It was a tough decision to make, one of the toughest in my life.”

Asked why he married secretly, he explained “I secretly married her because I have so much respect for my other babies’ mothers; I cannot afford to hurt their feelings with a sudden society wedding with Annie, not now. I chose her above the others because she has been through it all with me.”...........

Pastor Adeboye – Nigeria’s Problems Due To “Our Sins”.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Nigeria’s most influential Man of God has shared his perspectives on Nigeria’s crisis and how it can be solved.
At the 15th Holy Ghost Congress, which is holding at the Redemption Camp on the Lagos/Ibadam expressway, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye said the sins of Nigerians have distorted the plan of God for the nation, which is the people “multiply, be fruitful, have dominion, prosper and be in control. Then signs and wonders will follow.’’ “God is not just a builder, but an architect,” he said. “He has good plans for Nigeria, but somewhere along the line something tampered with the plans.”

“Sin came in, the plan was distorted, God being God in his wisdom has decided to restore and rebuild Nigeria.”

“Thankfully, God has plans to rebuild the nation.”........

Huge Spending Will Not Solve Nigeria’s Security Problems – Atiku.

One time Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said that big budget is not a solution to the Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnati Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram nuisance in the nation. Abubakar also pointed out that approving a huge budget for education is not the solution to problems in the sector.
He stated that there must be intensive efforts to make things happen in the nation. The Turaki of Adamwa said this while delivering the 2012 Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Memorial Lecture at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja....

According to him, Atiku said, “Big spending or budget will not solve the Boko Haram problem just like a huge budget will not be the solution to the problems we are having in education… The International Labour Organisation estimates that we have 75 million unemployed people this year.

“Ironically we also have thousands of jobs available in certain sectors such as information and communication technology, which cannot be filled because of the scarcity of requisite skills in the available graduates… Enrolment and admissions have not kept up with our population growth. Our degrees are increasingly worthless.”

He then suggested that free institution and compulsory primary and secondary education should be encouraged across the country, noting that any parent who fail to abide by the law which says that anyone under the age of 18 must be in school should be held responsible....

Prostitute Screams, Escapes From Hotel Room Naked After Seeing Size Of Her Client’s Manhood.

And if the foreigner has a car, his premium rises because the hustles of getting into a matatu early in the morning or in the middle of the day are eliminated. Besides, they pay lavishly, including taxi fare, and are not unknown to throw in a decent meal and drinks. Even better is that they could fall in love and sweeten the deal with a wedding ring.

But for one sex worker, the foreigner she met turned out be more than she had bargained for, causing her to flee from lady luck in her birthday suit.
The night had been ‘dry’ for her so the pick-up had taken place past 6am, meaning that their entrance into the hotel was noticed by the workers streaming in for their daytime shift and those leaving. Being the norm at these hotels, no one paid much attention to her skimpy dress, understanding that for her, it was just another day at the office.

“About 15 minutes after their entrance, we heard a woman screaming from somewhere inside the building,” said a front-desk attendant at the hotel.

But before they could act, a naked woman bolted down the stairs and sprinted past the reception screaming, her clothes and shoes in her hands. She did not stop running until she was outside the hotel compound.

“Then a white man came out in his underwear, stood at the reception, looked at the running woman and burst into loud laughter,” said the attendant, who had checked-in the tourist the day before.

In response to the curious glances from hotel staff, other guests and a few beach boys who were around, he said, ‘But I had not even started’,” the attendant conferred.

Meanwhile, the woman was in pains to explain what had transpired back in that expensive room to taxi operators outside the hotel. A small crowd had also gathered out of the blue, with the journalistic oriented amongst them using their mobile phones to capture the image for posterity.

“I have been in this business for more than ten years but I have never encountered what I saw inside that room. That man is too ‘big’ for life!” she said amid gasps of air.

“If I had not run away, I would have been dead within minutes or required stitches to repair the damage. That white men is no joke” she offered as the crowd went wild with laughter.

She, however, had no intention of refunding the tourist, saying she needed to be compensated for ‘shock’. “I readily agreed to his offer. I got into his car and we headed for a nice hotel, ” said the visibly distraught woman to the tuk-tuk operators who offered her comfort after her ordeal.

Hilarious!!!

How Far Can The US Go On Boko Haram's Designation As FTO ?.

There have been serious arguments by some American scholars, the Christians Association of Nigeria and opinion leaders on why the United States should designate the entire Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorists Organization {FTO}. Also, the federal government has been making several arguments on why such designation should not take place. Leadership's Bureau Chief in the United States, ABIODUN OLUWAROTIMI, writes on the arguments from both sides.

As the activities of Boko Haram, an Islamic Sect in Nigeria increase on daily basis, the federal government and the Christian Association of Nigeria have been thrown into a serious disagreement over calls on the United States government to designate the group as a Foreign Terrorists Organization {FTO}.

It would be recalled that more than twenty American Scholars had recently asked President Barrack Obama to designate the entire Boko Haram group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

In its part, the Department of State only listed three notable leaders of the Islamic Sect as foreign terrorists with a further explanation that the United States government would consult stakeholders to be able to know if the entire group should be named a foreign terrorists group.

In its argument, the federal government of Nigeria warned the United States against the planned designation of Boko Haram, saying that such act would not only internationalize the terrorist group but it would affect Nigerians that may want to visit the United States for official or personal reasons in the future.

The federal government further argued that the designation of Boko Haram as a foreign terrorists organization {FTO} would amount to returning Nigeria and its citizens back to the United States' watchlist.

It would be recalled that the State Department had in December 2009 put Nigerians on its terror watchlist shortly after the failed attempt by a Nigerian, Farouk Abdulmutalab to bomb a Detroit-bound airline, an incident that happened on the 25th of December, 2009.

However, Nigeria was removed from the terror watchlist of the United States sometimes in 2010 after a constructive argument was made on behalf of the Nigerian government to the United States President, Barrack Obama, by the Nigeria's Envoy to the country, Prof. Adebowale Adefuye just as he assumed duties then......

Just about a week ago, the Ambassador kicked against calls by the Christians Association of Nigeria {CAN} and the Christians Association of Nigeria in America {CANAN} that the United states should name the entire Sect a Foreign Terrorists Organization {FTO}.

Prof. Adefuye clearly told a delegation of the Christians group that visited his office in Washington DC last week that to declare Boko Haram a foreign terrorist organization would be almost an admission to the Americans that Nigeria is not able to deal with Boko Haram, whereas the government had been able to deal with the much more serious and more threatening, more dangerous insurrection like the Niger-Delta.

Adefuye further stated that: "Niger-Delta has history, it has a reason, it has focus, it has a cause, it has leaders. So, one could understand the reason for that and so there is clearly no comparison between Boko Haram and Niger-Delta because for Niger-Delta people had a reason, it has a history and one could remember the poet Ken Saro Wiwa who was killed"

"These are people who have a reason, they have a cause and Nigeria was able to deal with Niger-Delta. We were able to do the amnesty program and that has more or less taken out the steam out of Niger-Delta. But then, the point why I don’t want America itself to declare Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) is because it will be working even against the interest of Americans"

He pressed further that there was no point in declaring Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorists Organization, stressing that an FTO has a number of negative implications on Nigeria.

His words: "one, it means Nigeria is not able to deal with it, so the international community has to dealt with it, it’s a way of internationalizing the conflict. Two, by the time the only superpower in the World, the US declares them an FTO, it is giving them some added importance, it’s a shot in their arm. It will add to their prestige among fellow terrorist organizations who will then be inclined to help them, to support them, to give them a bigger than life attitude. Three, for us, America and Nigeria, we are cooperating in the area of foreign direct investment to Nigeria, if you now declare Boko Haram an FTO, it means Nigeria is a territory inhabited by terrorists. Every investor will think twice before going to a territory inhabited by terrorists"

"If we declare them an FTO, there are too many negative implications, that means it’s not in America’s interest. That’s why I keep telling the Senators because I’ve been going around members of Senate, members of House of Representatives. It’s the Republicans who are trying to push this bill through and I met a bunch of them two days ago. What I told them was that it is not even in your interest, illogical for you to declare Boko Haram an FTO"

In his reactions to the Ambassador's argument, CANAN Executive Director, Pastor Laolu Akande explained that based on academic researches and studies conducted on the connection between terrorism and foreign direct investment, including one by the Asia Development Bank, the designation of Boko Haram as an FTO by the US will not necessarily influence investors from coming to Nigeria.

Quoting a United Nations report on the subject, Akande said terrorism was number 7 concern of foreign investors generally, adding that “investors will go for profit wherever they can find it, even if it is in the mouth of a lion.”

In an earlier press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC, the US Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CANAN) noted that the designation of Boko Haram as an FTO would send a serious signal to the political and financial backers of the group, who currently enjoy complete impunity not merely from the government of Nigeria but also from the international community including the United States.

The Chairman of the Christian group, Dr. James Fadele, who addressed the press briefing, said that the there was an urgent need for the designation because the group is sustained by the procurement of unbelievable amounts of heavy arms and weapons, clearly transported from country to country and certainly funded by some fat pockets. “It is in fact critical for a critical investigation into likely backers of Boko Haram both in Nigeria and outside” he noted.

He continued that if and when Boko Haram is designated as an FTO, all their top political backers would understand that the stakes are higher and they would face a wider net of justice, stressing that this action in turn would likely curtail them from funding the terrorists group.

His words: CANAN said: “We support the call by a number of Republican members of Congress, including Representative Peter King of New York, to designate Boko Haram an FTO”

“We are now calling on Americans to hold the State Department accountable for the current US policy on the issue of Boko Haram which discounts the lives of Nigerians Christians and is attempting to recast what is a terrorism problem as an economic one”

Challenging the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan over the designation of Boko Haram, CANAN said that the federal government had given a very confusing response on the FTO issue due to its need to avoid embarrassment and affirm the sovereignty of Nigeria.

It also noted that the Nigerian government is no longer capable by itself alone to effectively check Boko Haram without some drastic international help including the designation of the terrorist group as a Foreign Terrorists Organization by the United States government.

Just two days ago, the National President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who was speaking at the National Executive Council meeting of the association in Akwa, Anambra state urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to support calls on the United States government to name the entire Boko Haram as a foreign terrorist group.

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes 2012 List Of Musicians Who Are Always Bringing The Beats.

Apparently selling headphones and resurrecting your dead friends (in hologram form!) are lucrative business ventures. Dr. Dre is Forbes Magazine’s richest musician for the year 2012 (via Billboard. Dre, in addition to back catalog sales and commanding a hefty fee for appearing at Coachella made a killing when electronics company HTC bought a 51% share in his Beats headphone brand. How much of a killing you ask? Something to the tune of $100 million dollars, bringing his total pre-tax earnings to roughly $110 million, a figure which obviously does not include sales for Detox.

So, what other filthy 1%ers made the list and are therefore better than you in every way, shape, and form? Old dudes Roger Waters ($88 million), Elton John ($80 million), and U2 ($78 million) as well as aging British boy band Take That ($69 million) round out the top five, but unlike Dre, made almost all of their money from long international tours. The rest of the list pretty much falls in line with your expectations, except for Jay-Z. You’d think that owning a small percentage of a mediocre basketball team in the Cool Capital™ of the world would net you some more cash.

A word of advice to all you struggling musicians out there: invest in branding your own line of over-priced, sub-par headphones. It’ll do wonders for your bank account and, really, touring is for the birds.......
