Rape In Rio.

Two women, French and American, were held for about six hours and were sexually assaulted aboard a public transport vehicle in the Copacabana beach neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro.

A statement from the police has it that the suspects, aged 20 and 22, who have been taken into custody, forced other passengers out of the vehicle and sexually assaulted the victims. The victims were later driven to Sao Goncalo, a poor suburban neighbourhood where the suspects were apprehended.

The two suspects have been identified by the victims and a Brazilian woman has said she was also assaulted by the pair on March 23.

According to Brazil's Health Ministry, between January and June 2012, more than 5300 cases of sexual assault were reported.

A third suspect is been sought by the police in relation with the incident...
