Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez In Dock For Punching Opponent.

The bad boy from Uruguay, Luis Suarez, is back into the news after he punched Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara during a World Cup qualifier in Santiago on Tuesday. The Liverpool striker could face an extended international ban in lieu to his actions during the match.

Video replays showed Suarez making contact with Jara with a right fist to the face during Chile's 2-0 victory over the reigning Copa America champions, reports Xinhua.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan footballer was later booked by referee Nestor Pitana for an unrelated incident, meaning he will miss Uruguay's next qualifier away to Venezuela June 11.

Local media quoted a FIFA spokesperson as saying that football's governing body was awaiting the referee's match report before deciding whether to take action against Suarez.

"We are still collecting all the post-match international reports since the officials have got 24 hours to send them. Based on (them), FIFA will proceed," the spokesperson said.

Tuesday's result left Uruguay sixth in the South America zone standings while Chile rose to the fourth spot.

The top four teams will qualify for next year's World Cup finals in Brazil.

Prostitute Who 'Died' During Sex Comes Back To Life.

A  prostitute in Zimbabwe ‘died’ during a hotel romp with a client – only to come back to life as her body was being put in a coffin.

The vice girl reportedly collapsed during a sex session last week at the Manor Hotel in Bulaweyo.

Convinced she was dead, her shocked client called the police – who sent paramedics to collect the body.

But as they were loading the ‘corpse’ into a metal coffin, the hooker suddenly woke up screaming.

Local news reports claim she leaped from the casket, yelling: “You want to kill me, you want to kill me”.

Terrified staff and guests at the hotel who had gathered to watch the scene unfold, fled in panic.

A source said: “It was like a movie. People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen.”

The shaken hooker – known locally as MaNdlo – was escorted home by another prostitute.

Police Kill 2 NSCDC Officers.

Two officials of the Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corp were on Tuesday, killed by gunmen, alleged to be officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Isawo area of  Ikorodu in  Lagos State.

The deceased officers are identified as Innocent Akhigbe , an inspector and Gabriel Adaji, an assistant inspector.

The slain officials were reportedly on routine surveillance of pipeline facilities in Ikorodu, when they were reportedly waylaid.

The NSCDSC officers, who escaped the attack, however, recovered an identification card belonging to a police inspector and a service pistol.

A source at the headquarters of NSCDC informed the Nigerian Tribune that the policemen were collaborators with pipeline vandals in the area.

The source said that some oil thieves, who had earlier escaped from the civil defence officials, mobilized the policemen, who launched the attack.

It was gathered that the civil defence officers, who were in two Hilux patrol vans invaded Ikorodu area and arrested some pipeline vandals.

“Some of the vandals escaped, after they could not withstand the civil defence officer but four of them were arrested “ the source told the Nigerian Tribune.
It was while the NSCDC were leaving the scene that an unmarked  Toyota Corolla crossed their vans and some gunmen opened fire on them.

One of the officers died on the spot, while  the other died at an unnamed hospital, where he was rushed to.
Meanwhile, the image maker in charge of the Lagos State police command, Ngozi Braide, while reacting to the incident, through a press release made available to the Nigerian Tribune, also claimed that a police team was attacked by civil defence officers.

The police in the statement stated that: “At about 0145hrs of date, there was a distress call from DM security PPMC, Mosimi that they were experiencing drop in pressure on the pipeline” and added that “the Unit Commander in charge of Konu immediately pulled out his men on Konu axis under Inspector Sunday Gabriel to proceed to the scene.”

The statement from the police also read that: “As they were approaching, they heard sounds of serious gunshot in their area of pipeline coverage and the inspector  instructed his men to proceed to that direction as it could be the activities of vandals.”

The statement further read that: “Upon arrival, they saw a group of Civil Defence Corp Members coming out from the direction where the shooting was earlier heard. The NSCDC men challenged the policemen who were about four in number on what their mission was in the area, “saying that it was their sole responsibility (Civil Defence) to guide and protect pipelines.

“At this juncture, there was an argument between the NSCDC and the police and the most senior NSCDC officer, DSC Olufemi, ordered his men who were about 14 in number to disarm, arrest and handcuff the police team leader and three other members of his team,”  the statement from the police alleged.
Meanwhile, the Comandant-General of NSCDC, has appealed to men and officers of the Corps to remain calm and avoid any form of reprisal attack.

Addressing men and officers of the Corps in Abuja on Thursday over the incident, Abolurin asked them to continue to collaborate with other security agencies of government in tackling the issue of vandalism and oil theft and protection of life and property of the citizenry.
He urged the personnel to remain resolute and dogged in their drive in fighting the illicit act to a standstill without compromise.

According to Abolurin, the Federal Government through the enabling Act has mandated the Corps to carry out the function of mounting surveillance, protecting critical infrastructure of government, arrest and prosecute anyone caught in the act of vandalism as well as those suspected to be collaborators.....

Nigeria FG Tasks Entrepreneurs On Job Creation.

The Federal Government has urged entrepreneurs to complement government’s effort in creating more jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerians in the country.

Speaking at the Award Night of Nigeria Fast Growth 50 Entrepreneurial Records in Lagos, organised  by AllWorld Newtwork in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, (MITI), Mr. Olusegun Aganga, stated that government would back up entrepreneurs who are ready to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerians.

According to him, “Government is committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to strive. We will support entrepreneurs as they are the drivers of job creation and economic growth. You are the most important sector in any economy. We are celebrating hard work and creativity because you have managed to see opportunity where many see challenges.”

Also speaking, Professor Michael Porter commended the 50 Nigeria Entrepreneurs who had distinguished themselves by creating over 6,500 jobs and making returns of over 100 percent in their businesses.

According to him, “The Federal Government of Nigeria needs to create an enabling environment because there are great potentials in the country.  The system has held the potentials down. Growth does not happen anywhere in the world without the active participation of the private sector. There must be capacity building for entrepreneurs to raise their profile, as well as making them visible.

“This Nigeria 50 entrepreneurs being celebrated today have potentials to create more jobs if given the right environment. What is affecting the growth of this economy is the system that is being operated. Once the system is corrected, there will be growth because Nigeria has talent and knowledge. There is nowhere in the world where entrepreneurs can make 100 percent returns on their investment, so these people must be encouraged”

In his own remark, Mr.Tony Elumelu, said, “The future and success of Nigeria and Africa depend on the entrepreneurs. There is greater optimism that Nigeria and indeed Africa will be a better place to invest once there is enabling environment.  If these 50 Nigerians being celebrated today can make average returns of over 100 percent and employ 6,600 people in a difficult terrain, then you can see that they will do greater than this once there is a right environment".

He further advised the private sector not to criticise the government but to work with them towards creating enabling environment.

It should be noted that Allworld Network in partnership with Tony Elumelu Foundation announced the winners of the Nigeria Fast Growth 50 (Nigeria 50), a ranking of the 50 of the fast growing private sector (non listed companies in Nigeria.) The Nigeria 50 broke Allworld records, with each company growing at an average 100 percent a year revenues of $9 million USD and as a group they have created 6,600 jobs....

What Good Friday Really Means To A Lot Of People.

Friday, which is a part of the Christian’s Lent Season, is the commemoration of Jesus’ suffering and crucifixion. Christians believe Jesus laid down His life so the sins of the world will be forgiven.

In the United States, Good Friday is not considered an official holiday but recognized by many as the day of mourning. So, jobs and classes will continue as usual but Christian schools may hold a mass early morning. Majority of Christian churches offer services and prayer vigils. Catholic devotees conduct processions, known to many as Stations of the Cross, reenacting what had happened to Jesus while on his way to his death.

This year, Good Friday falls on March 29th. It is during this day that many believers would commit themselves to fasting, which includes not taking in or reducing the amount food, and abstinence, no-meat meals. Candles are often extinguished, and images, paintings or crucifixes are draped in black or purple cloth.

Based on Christian history, the Lenten Season in the Christian calendar begins during the Palm Sunday when devotees celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem during His time. On Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, Jesus (who was believed to be the Son of God) had His last supper with His apostles. It was also during that night that He was handed over to the authorities for trial by Judas.

The following day, He was sentenced to death by crucifixion by Pontius Pilate. Prior to the painful journey to Jerusalem, He had to be scorned according to the tradition of Rome. He had to take a beating to make him weak and suffer even more by the time he would be forced to carry his cross to the place where He would breathe His last breath.

According to many Christian researchers, Jesus died at around 3:00 in the afternoon. Two days later, His body disappeared from the tomb. Faith tells Christians of today that Jesus resurrected two days after His death that is why there is another joyful celebration called Easter that symbolizes Christ’s resurrection and triumph over death.

Good Friday actually shows how deep is the faith of Christians to the person whom they believe is divine. Historians, however, said that Jesus was condemned to death not because of His divinity at that time but because he was posing political threats to the Roman Empire. In fact, His death was a conspiracy and if the history about his apostle Judas were true, at least, one of His followers conspired against Him.

By the time He was on the road to preach, He was considered a politician, a physician after curing some illnesses, a revolutionist, an activist, a priest and even thought of as a necromancer after few instances of raising dead people back to life.

But for Christians around the world, He is God.

So, I pray that this Lenten Season brings peace to Nigeria....AMEN!!!

Rihanna Cheats On Chris Brown With Dane Cook?.

Drama unfolds once more for the famous couple as rumors circulate of Rihanna hooking up with funnyman Dane Cook.

It's not the first time rumors of cheating has plagued Rihanna and Chris Brown, but now it's Cook's name being dragged into the melee. The comedian is said to be long-time friends with Rihanna, but things heated up after the singer attended one of his shows at an L.A. comedy club.

A source reveals more to the rumors to National Enquirer, saying the Stay singer is keeping coy but those close to her can notice the budding friendship.

"They flirt like crazy, and Dane regularly sends Rihanna flowers and gushy emails," the source says. "Rihanna's friends all think they're carrying on a romance, but she's very secretive about it. She wants to keep everyone guessing, including Chris."

Reports say the fairer half of the volatile pair is determined to prove to Chris Brown that just because they're back together doesn't mean he can rest on his laurels. The Stay singer is young and beautiful, and she's eager to show her beau that he's not the only one who wants her and she's still a "hot commodity".

But Rihanna's camp makes it clear in an MTV UK interview that the rumors are simply a fabrication. A representative for the Barbados beauty states the stories linking Rihanna and Cook are "completely untrue".

Sure enough, recent interviews with both Rihanna and Brown indicate a content-if not perfect-relationship.

"We value each other," the bombshell shares to Rolling Stone magazine. "We know exactly what we have now and we don't want to lose that."

The couple is even reportedly planning an extravagant wedding in Barbados set later this year.....

Why NCC Is Sanctioning Telecoms Operators.

Sanctions are to help telecoms operators in becoming more productive, former NCC board chairman Mr Oluwale Ige has said. He said sanctions and fines in the industry will help telecoms operators to be more responsive and pro-active in providing service.

Ige who is a former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Board, said in Abuja that the essence of sanctions was to put operators on their toes in the area of quality service delivery and also to assure them that the commission was watching closely their activities.

Ige said the sanctions should not be seen as punishment, but as a tool to tackle low level of productivity in the telecoms industry. "It depends on your definition of sanctions. If you look at sanctions as punishment, you will sit up. Sanction is a stepping stone for telecoms operators to re-examine their operations. It is not punishment, but something to ginger them up to be pro-active and to be more positive beyond their environment,’’ he said.

Ige also pointed out that telecoms operators do not operate in isolation, and there was the need for compliance adding that the reason for introducing Mobile Number Portability (MNP) was to enhance competition among telecoms operators so as improve on the quality of service.

"The MNP is a system which enables a subscriber to move from one network to another if not satisfied with the quality of service, without changing his or her SIM number,” he said.

Floating School Built In Makoko.

A three-storey floating school will soon be used in Makoko, a poverty stricken community on the flooded coastline of Lagos.

The new primary school in the Lagos slum is built on a foundation of 256 plastic drums. Powered by solar panels on the roof, it will be able to accommodate more than 100 students. The building features an open recreational space on the first floor and a number of classrooms on the floors above.

Makoko is home to nearly 100,000 residents, who struggle to make their living by fishing.
Nigerian architect Kunle Adeyemi, who was raised in Lagos, Africa’s largest city, designed the floating building. He said that the school is part of a plan that he has envisioned for the community’s future.

Residents of Makoko, which means “fishing village”, have dealt with the encroaching waters by building their houses on stilts for generations. But Mr Adeyemi has a new plan for residents.

Instead of all houses being on stilts, he wants to offer to build floating homes in Makoko as well. Water pollution and other environmental issues have resulted in a high death rate in the community.

Every home of the community has around four children and most drop out of school at an early age. But Anthony Abraham, a school teacher in the community, hopes the new school will mean more children get to finish their education. “Their parents don’t have much power to help them to become a graduate,” he said.

More than seven million children in Nigeria are deprived of the chance to receive education due to poverty, according to the Nigerian Ministry of Education...

Kidnapped Journalist Released: Olubunmi Oke.

A journalist at a Nigerian state-owned television station who was kidnapped last week as she left work with her baby and maid was released Sunday, her professional union said.

Olubunmi Oke, a reporter and newscaster with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), was taken Thursday by four men who blocked her car as she was leaving her office in Akure, capital of the southwestern Ondo state.

"I confirm that she has been released. I spoke with her early this morning shortly after she was set free by her abductors," Rotimi Obamuwagun, vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, told AFP.
"She is hale and hearty and happy to be back home," he said.

Oke's baby and maid were with her when she was kidnapped but were later released by her abductors, who took her alone to to an unknown destination.

"She was set free and abandoned in a bush near Ondo town, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from Akure from where she boarded a lorry home," Obamuwagun said.

It is unclear if any ransom was paid before she was released.

Kidnappings are frequent in oil-rich southern Nigeria, mostly for ransom, and more recently in northern parts of the country by members of the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, or its offshoot Ansaru.

But it is rare in southwest Nigeria, where the journalist was kidnapped. The reason for her abduction is unknown.

Criminal gangs, splinter factions and imitators also carry out violence sometimes attributed to Boko Haram.

We thank God she's safe and alive....

Kendrick Lamar Took An Entire Day To Write Verse For Jay-Z Assisted ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’ .Remix

When Kendrick Lamar announced that he would be teaming up with Jay-Z for the official remix to ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe,’ you should know it would be the most talked about song on the music scene for quite some time. That’s definitely been the case, and now Kendrick takes some time to discuss how it all came together.

K Dot and Jay-Z debuted their ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’ single earlier this week, and the buzz is still coming on strong. Kendrick revealed to Funkmaster Flex that all of the time and effort put into the music, the studio time, all of it “didn’t mean shit” if he couldn’t “live up to this track.”

When I heard that thing he sent back I said to myself, ‘I can’t be no floozy on this motherfucker for sure’,” Kendrick explained “All them years of being in the studio, all them years of writing, all them years of freestyling and just being a student of the game don’t mean shit if I can’t live up to this track, at least by a little bit being beside a legend in it.”

Obviously when you’re putting out your best work, it can take a bit of time. K Dot reveals that he went to work on his verse for a day straight because he was so excited to be working with Hov.

“You really can’t prepare. Jay-Z came and just humbled the whole record, so you just gotta go for what you know…I was so excited it took me a day.”

It definitely would have been nice to see what Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z would have put out had they actually worked on the project together in the studio.....

R.Kelly Mansion Loss: Singer Takes A Bath In Sale.

R.Kelly's mansion sold at a loss of about $4 million, according to reports this week. The musician's 11,140-square-foot Chicago mansion, located in the suburbs near Olympia Fields, was valued at over $5 million; however, it went for just $950,000 after R. Kelly was forced to give it up in a foreclosure auction.

The mansion was scooped up by J.P. Morgan Chase after R. Kelly fell far, far behind on his payments. Court records show that R. Kelly's mansion had him in the red for more than $3 million at the time of foreclosure. Some reports state that Kelly had a nearly $4 million mortgage.

R. Kelly's mansion loss isn't the first of his financial woes. Kelly has been struggling with money problems in the last few years. In 2012, the IRS hit him with a $5 million bill after it claimed that the R&B singer owed massive amounts of unpaid taxes.

Despite R. Kelly's mansion loss and his problems with the IRS, his representative Allan Mayer denies that the singer is having any money problems at all.

R. Kelly's mansion loss is staggering, but the mansion was actually purchased by the singer for only $1.5 million from a wealthy family that reportedly owned several McDonalds franchises in the area.

The 10,000-square-foot home features six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a theater, a private lake, a basketball court, a tennis court, and an indoor pool. R. Kelly's mansion loss was a long time coming: the bank had tried foreclosing on the home back in 2011, but the process was delayed. Kelly strategically defaulted on the mansion that year, as explained in this video. The video also shows Kelly giving fans a tour of the property.

R.Kelly's mansion loss is a surprise considering how many records and albums he's sold over the years, but perhaps the R&B singer's career has never quite recovered since that shocking sex tape scandal. The resulting trial had him indicted for child pornography charges in 2001, and while he was ultimately acquitted in 2008, the stigma has remained.

However, his most recent album, Write Me Back, debuted at number five on the Billboard charts in 2012 and received generally positive reviews. So, why the money problems?

R. Kelly's mansion loss makes me think he should get back in the studio and churn out another smash hit like the 2005 R&B opera epic Trapped In The Closet.

Pension Fraud: Court Grants N10 Million Bail To Yusufu.

Mr Yusufu, who was on January 30, remanded in Kuje prison after he pleaded not-guilty to a 4-count criminal charge that was preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured bail in the sum of N10 million.

Ruling on his application for bail, trial Justice Adamu Bello also ordered the convicted former Director to produce one reliable surety in the like sum, stressing that such person must not be below the post of a Director in the Federal Civil Service.

The court also maintained that the surety must not only be resident within the Federal Capital Territory, but must show evidence of ownership of a landed property in Abuja.

The surety according to Justice Adamu should tender the title deed of the property to the Chief Registrar of the high court for authentication.

The Court also seized the international passport of Mr Yusufu, warning him not travel out of the country without permission.

“Pending the perfection of his bail conditions, the accused person should remain in Prison custody,” the judge added.

Meanwhile, before the accused was granted bail, Justice Bello, adduced reasons why he not only remanded the convict, but also why he was allowed to remain in prison detention for over two months.

The Judge insisted that his decision was aimed at assuaging the anger of Nigerians following the slap-on-the-wrist sentence that was earlier handed to the accused by an Abuja High Court at Gudu where Mr Yusufu had on January 27, confessed that he connived with seven other civil servants and stole over N23billion from the Police Pension Fund.

It will be recalled that Justice Abubakar Thalba, had relied on the statutory provision of section 309 of the Penal Code Act and sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment with an option of N750, 000 fine, a sum the accused quickly paid and drove home.

However, he was subsequently re-arrested by the EFCC following his alleged complicity in another N300 million fraud.

Eko Atlantic City: Turning Adversity To Prosperity.

The story of the Eko Atlantic City is that of the unending efforts of man to turn natural adversity into prosperity. In 2003, erosion ravaged a good part of Victoria Island, with a very serious threat to Ahmadu Bello Way, whose border had partially collapsed into the sea.

Concerned about this development, the state governor at the time, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, sought the help of experts with a view to stemming the tide of erosion which was threatening to swallow up the whole of Victoria Island. It was in the course of the study of the problem that it was revealed that if a wall was constructed on the original coastline, it would effectively check the course of the erosion. That is the origin of the Eko Atlantic City project.

When completed, the new city would be home to 250,000 people and a workplace of 150,000 others as it is planned as a mix of business and residential developments. The city is to have different districts with different offerings. It is being conceived and developed to be better than Manhattan in New York City and Dubai in United Arab Emirate when it is fully completed. The project represents a peep into the future of Lagos as it offers a world-class infrastructure to facilitate the development of a new African city. With Lagos’ growing population and its attendant implications, Eko Atlantic City will help, in no small way, to widen the options available for socio-economic interaction in the state. In essence, part of the objective for bringing the city on board is to relieve the pressure on the ever enlarging population of the state. The 10 square kilometre city will have waterfront areas, tree-lined streets, efficient transportation systems and mixed-use plots that combine residential areas with leisure facilities, offices and shops.

The Eko Atlantic City project is basically a recovery and environmental protection plan whose main goal is to restore land lost to coastal erosion since the late 1950s and to offer a lasting solution to the erosion dilemma by providing a strong sea wall or revetment along the newly reconstructed coastline. Lagos is not alone in this unending struggle between man and the forces of nature. Similar process has taken place in the Netherlands, large parts of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, parts of Dublin, Ireland, parts of New Orleans (which is partially built on land that was once swamp), much of the urbanised area adjacent to San Francisco Bay, including most of San Francisco’s waterfront and financial district, Mexico City (which is situated at the former site of Lake Texcoco), large parts of Monaco, 25% of Hong Kong Island, Mumbai, India and loads of individual islands, one of which the Burj al Arab Hotel in Dubai lies on.

A remarkable aspect of the Eko Atlantic City project is the Great Wall of Lagos which when completed will be over 8 kilometres long and will be topped by 100,000 five-ton concrete blocks which interlock loosely to form an effective barrier that dispels the force of the waves and provides the primary armoured sea defence.

It will rise nine meters above sea level and – from scale drawing at the showroom of Eko Atlantic at the Bar Beach, Victoria Island – will almost encircle the new city. It would be a sight to behold. Presently, the Great Wall has gone past the halfway construction stage at 4.5 kilometres in length and is growing at the rate of about six metres a day. Former US President, Bill Clinton, said of the wall: “I am convinced that within five years, people will be coming from all over the world to see this wall”.

One is, indeed, delighted by the prospect of this new city that is expected to accommodate 250,000 people, generate employment opportunities for over 50,000 people and approximately 150,000 people commuting daily into the city to work and do business. The recent dedication of the 5,000,000 square metres reclaimed land for the development of the city reflects the determination of the state government and its other promoters to make the project a reality. One aspect of the project that is particularly fascinating is its tourism potentials, which when completed, would serve as an additional support to drive the nation’s tourism sector. The city, when completed, will become first choice for financiers and vacationers all over the world.

It presents its occupants with world class facilities and infrastructure that makes working and living there a pleasure as it is expected to generate its power as well as its water.

Coming at a time when our dear country is being likened to a failed state in some circles, the project is an affirmation of the fact that Nigeria is capable of accomplishing greater feats despite its numerous challenges. This project is one of the good news that we will continue to talk about in this country for a long time to come. On completion, the city would not only create a tourist delight for people all over the world, but would contribute to the development of Nigeria’s economy in no small measure considering its window of enormous opportunities.

The Lagos state government and its partners on the project should be commended for keeping faith with their commitment towards the project. One is particularly impressed by the presence of President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Bill Clinton and other high calibre individuals at the recent dedication of the project as it represents the power of common commitment to the survival of human race on the planet. It is only in putting up such common fronts that we can successfully confront nature and its challenges across the world.

Aside being an audacious engineering and architectural statement, the city symbolises the enduring spirit of man to conquer nature. This is because the ability of human civilisation to survive and prosper on the planet has been a story of constant battle against nature. The symbols of that triumph are many across the world. The airplane is one of them. The Panama Canal is yet another. The European tunnel is another. The pyramid of Egypt remains an intriguing model of global edifice that stands as a brand testimony of the indefatigable depth of human capacity for survival.

While urging relevant stakeholders to join hands with the state government and its partners in the actualisation of this laudable project, one would like to echo the words of Bill Clinton during the re-dedication of the project: “People world-wide need to come together and do something specific and exhibit commitment to do something specific. No one in the world is powerful enough. No one in the world is wealthy enough to solve the world’s problem. But we can all do something to solve them and when people make a commitment, we expect them to keep it.”....

Gangnam Style, Harlem Shake Go Bolly.

The upcoming film Rangrezz, starring Jackky Bhagnani, is already hitting all the right notes with audiences, largely because of its incorporation of popular song and dance numbers that are taking the world |by storm, namely Gangnam Style and the Harlem Shake. Indian reporters examine how these modern hits are incorporated into the film.

IT’S common knowledge by now that Jackky Bhagnani has acquired the rights to the popular song Gangnam Style by pop sensation Psy. The track, which has been used in Bhagnani’s soon-to-be-released film Rangrezz, has created a stir among audiences.

Bhagnani and Niharika, Bhagnani’s stylist, and Prasanna, the track’s choreographer, decoded their use of Gangnam Style.

Niharika said: “Because the song has already been a rage and people will expect something crazy where costume is concerned, we had to think out of the box in keeping Jackky’s look in the film.

“He plays a lower middle-class Marathi boy, which had to be factored in. At the same time, it had to look colourful and funky on screen. It had to make a statement as well, after all it’s Gangnam Style.”

On changing the steps in the new track, Bhagnani said: “We have chosen all iconic places around the city (Dhobi ghat, Mumbai). But we did not want to give a touristy feel through this song. It had to be from the eyes of a local boy, who has hung around in these places.

“Gangnam Style in Rangrezz had to paint a completely different picture as there is a huge recall of the international song, the video and Psy’s act. What we have captured is also close to the character I am playing,” he said.

“Dhobi ghat was a specific choice because it’s iconic to Mumbai and visually its colour palette can be sheer joy. We shot at the docks, Worli village – all these places have their unique characteristics which, put together, make Mumbai.

“We have also used an open bus to bring out the fun quotient. The entire song is a slice of ‘Mumbai life’ from a local’s perspective. Gangnam Style in Bollywood will be for one and all,” said Bhagnani.

About its choreography, Prasanna said: “We’ve introduced the Harlem Shake in this song, which is a hot property dance these days, so both in terms of song and dance it is a global merger – ‘Harlem Shake in Gangnam Style’.

“Also, Jackky is a fab dancer, so along with giving the song a fresh look we wanted to tap into his talent as well. The song looks warm, colourful and will include every-body, from a child to an ‘oldie’.”

Rangrezz, directed by Priyadarshan, features Priya Anand opposite Bhagnani and is scheduled for release on March 22.

The man who is considered as a “lucky mascot” by some of the bigger film houses in Bollywood, Mushtaq Shiekh (writer), returns after a break with the thriller.

Rangrezz is the remake of the cult classic Naadodiga and tells the story of three friends who go out of their way to help a friend get his love back. And when they see things not working out between the couple, they take another daring step.....

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?: Nigerian Teacher Wins N5Million

A teacher, Mr. Sammy Davies Abraham, has received his reward on earth by winning the sum of N5 million from the MTN sponsored Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM) television game show. The Livingstone Preparatory School, Ibadan teacher won the prize on Sunday night.

As a member of Deeper Life Bible Church, Abraham confessed after winning the prize that he didn’t have a television set until about four years ago when a friend sold one to him for N3,000.

“Some years back, we members of Deeper Life weren’t watching television. But about four years ago, a friend of mine gave me a television and video player and said I should pay just N3,000 for them. That was how I got a television. Even after getting it, I really didn’t watch it because I was not really used to gadgets like that. But later, we started watching it and I came across the programme, WWTBAM,” he said.

Abraham, 58, who graduated from the Evangelical Presbyterian Teachers Training School, Ghana, in 1975, added that his wife and kids persuaded him to participate in the television show produced by Ultima Limited.

He said: “I usually watch the programme at home and most times, get the questions correctly. So, my wife and children said instead of wasting my knowledge, I should enrol to participate in the show. That was what motivated me to start dialling 132. Though I once participated in the home quiz and won N20,000. That was about two years ago.”

He further told P.M.NEWS that the money he won from the TV game show will be invested in the establishment of a school, which has been his dream for many years.

“Now that God has answered our prayers, the whole amount is going into the project.”
The elated father of four, who has been married since 1993, confessed that the development is a great relief for him, and a testimony to the fact that teachers can actually get their reward on earth.
Also speaking with P.M.NEWS, his wife, Mrs. Clementina Ngozi Abraham, said: “I want to thank Ultima Limited for what they are doing. More power to their elbows for giving people the opportunity of getting to where they never thought they would be.

"I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me.

"The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I've known you were gay since you were six, I've loved you since you were born."

The letter ends: "P.S Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple."

FCKH8.com founder Luke Montgomery told Yahoo that the letter was emailed to them by Nate, and that it had brought tears to his eyes.

The letter has been picked up by organisations around the world including the UK's Telegraph,  Huffington Post and Daily Mail.

Japan Unveils Single-Passenger Car That Drives Itself.

Japanese inventors Japan have developed a single-passenger car that can automatically take passengers from a location to the other without them having to do a thing.

The country’s tech conglomerate, Hitachi recently revealed its new Robot for Personal Intelligent Transport System (ROPITS) in the city of Tsukuba in the Ibaraki Prefecture.

The Jeremy Clarskon personally-designed robotic car has been described as the world’s smallest car.

The one man mobility robot can pick-up and drop off a passenger autonomously, while, in emergencies, passengers can seize control of the vehicle using a joystick controller in the cockpit.

The car maker said the vehicle was originally developed to help those who have difficulty in walking.

There is presently an increasing number of people in Japan’s ageing society and the car was designed to be small enough to move through pedestrian spaces.

The car was initially unveiled in February on the first episode of Top Gear’s most recent series.

When tested on the road, the four-wheel vehicle hit 34mph at one stage as could weave around traffic in the tiny vehicle.

Speaking about the car, carmaker Clarkson said: “I’m just staggered that Ford, GM, Toyota, all of the automotive giants haven’t thought to make a car like this yet.”

The Japanese robot is equipped with GPS to allow it to find its way, as well as laser distance sensors to look out for obstacles and a gyro sensor to help it stay upright while negotiating uneven ground.

Passengers need only specify their desired destination on a touch-screen map and the machine will automatically drive them there.

Similarly, anyone who needs a ride will be able to call a Ropits vehicle from any number of computer-networked  “stops” dotted around the city.

The vehicle is also equipped with “active suspension” which controls each wheel individually to enable it to tackle curbs and uneven ground while keeping passengers comfortably upright....

Samsung Unveils New Galaxy Smartphone.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. on Thursday premiered its latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, which sports a bigger display and unconventional features such as gesture controls and will spearhead its effort to challenge Apple Inc. on its home turf.

The phone is the first in Samsung’s highly successful Galaxy S-series to make its global debut on U.S. soil, and represents another bet that consumers prefer larger screens...

The S4, which Samsung preceded with a marketing blitz that drummed up industry speculation reminiscent of some of Apple’s past launches, will be available globally in the second quarter. Samsung said all major U.S. service providers will sell the phone, but it kept mum on exact dates and prices.

The company was more than willing to share some of the latest Galaxy phone's capabilities: It can stop and start videos depending on whether someone is looking at the screen, flip between songs and photos at the wave of a hand, and other features not typically found on rivals’ screens.

Samsung said the Galaxy S4 will sport a bigger 5-inch display than the S3’s 4.8 inches. But because the new display will cover more of the phone’s surface area, the device itself will be the same length and slightly narrower, thinner and lighter than the previous generation.

The newest features involve different options for navigation. For example, if the phone senses someone is looking at the screen, the user can tilt it forward or backwards to scroll up and down a Web page.

That feature falls slightly short of what some consumers may have expected after The New York Times reported the phone would be able to scroll automatically by tracking readers’ eyes.

But what it can do is sense when it has someone’s attention. When a video is playing, for instance, the stream will automatically pause if the person glances away and it will restart when the eyes refocus on the screen.

This is an update on an existing Galaxy S3 feature that allows the screen to sense whether or not the user is looking at. If there is nobody looking at the S3, the screen’s light switches off automatically to conserve battery power.

The latest phone also has a sensor that lets users move their hands to the left or right to scroll between different websites they have opened or through songs or photos in an album without having to touch the phone.

The idea is to make it easier to change the song playing without having to pick up the phone while driving or to avoid putting sticky fingers on the touch-screen display while scrolling through a Web page at mealtimes.

The phone will also allow users to hover a finger over an e-mail inbox or a photo gallery to get a glimpse of more details of what’s in the e-mail or which photos are in an album.

Another feature includes the option to automatically put a copy of details from a photograph of a business card into the phone’s contacts database or call a number in the business card...

Samsung is also promising an instant translation between IO different languages for certain applications, as well as a seperate translation application on the device...

The device also has a 13megapixel camera, compared with the S3's 8megapixel. U.S. operators planning to sell the S4 include Verizon wireless. AT&T Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp, T=Mobile USA and smaller operator :eap Wireless...

With this, Apple better wow their customers with Iphone 5s, if not....who knows, they might lose customers to Samsung...

Could There Be Trouble In Paradise For Kim Kardashian And Kanye West.

While everything may look fine for the expectant parents, who recently posed for a racy photo shoot together, there are whispers that Kanye is slowly starting to pull away.

"His passion for Kim has cooled," a source said. "This is a man who was once so infatuated with Kim that he would do anything to win her love. Now he's trying to get away from her, despite the fact that they're having a baby."

The couple's differences might just be getting the better of them.

For example, Kanye isn't crazy about his personal life being in the spotlight. He was hesitant to appear on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and made it clear that he wanted Kim to distance herself from reality TV altogether.

Unfortunately, the E! star is showing no signs of slowing up or stepping away from the multi-million dollar television empire that revolves around the everyday goings-on of her family.

Speaking of being in the spotlight, Kim apparently arranges all kinds of photo ops that make Kanye really uncomfortable. In fact, for their recent L'Oficiel Hommes cover, Kanye didn't even show his face.

In many of the other "candid" paparazzi photos, Kim is beaming and seems to be enjoying the spotlight while Kanye appears visibly uncomfortable and never even cracks a smile.

While it could just be a bunch of over-analyzing, it seems that we aren't the only ones who have noticed it. The source close to the family revealed that Kanye's recent frigidness is "making Kim very nervous."

They also said that becoming a single mom would be Kim's "worst nightmare"...and while we can't say we blame her, Kim is fortunate for the fact that she has a good family around her, so she's always going to have some sort of support system no matter what.

What do you think? Does it seem like Kim and Kanye are on the rocks????..

Abuja Airport Introduces New Security Measures.

An Aviation Security official at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, said on Monday that new security measures had been introduced at the airport.

Retired Col. James Oladipo, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Chief Security Officer at the airport, made the development known in Abuja during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said the new security measures taken by FAAN included the gathering of data for the identification of workers at the airport, introduction of a new gate pass and ban on motorcycles.

Oladipo said other measures were the total eradication of touts and hawkers as well as the screening of passengers and airport users at the gate before entry.

"One of the measures carried out was to eradicate touts and hawkers completely through our 'Operation Flush Out the Touts' that was carried out in collaboration with the police.

"Another one we have succeeded in is that all the parking lots at the airport have been designated and traffic flow has greatly improved; we have introduced a new gate pass to control the influx of people to the airport.

"We have equally ensured that all airport workers, including concessioners, car hire dealers, shop owners, airline staff, government agencies' staff and all others are captured in the on-going identification process," Oladipo said.

He said the aviation security and other security agencies, such as the army, police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and Federal Road Safety Corps, to ensure improved security at the airport.

Oladipo also said that sniffer dogs operated three times a week to check likely security threats at the airport, especially around the perimeter fence.

Oladipo said between January and March, 71 persons were arrested for touting and hawking, in addition to six motorcycles.

He said there was a report of car theft during the period.

"The car theft occurred at 9 a.m. and the owner of the car did not report it until about 4 p.m. Our investigation revealed that the car doors were left open while the owner was out of the car," he said.

NAN learnt that although the activities of touts and hawkers have reduced at the airport, the hawkers have devised new strategies to carry out their businesses.

Malam Idris Danladi, a hawker of dried meat, called Kilishi, at the airport, said hawkers usually held polythene bags to indicate that they sold the product.

"People like to buy Kilishi from me but there is no provision for poor people like me to sell. Once we wave this polythene bag at customers, they will beckon on us and we will bring the amount they need to their car or close to their bag.

"This is what I depend on to feed my family and train my children, I want to raise my children and pray that they will enter the plane in future," Danladi said....

Firefox Denies Returning To Apple Devices.

Mozilla Firefox used to be available for Apple (iOS) devices until it rescinded from the Apple App Store in September 2012. Mozilla has their own sophisticated rendering and JavaScript engines which they develop on. However, Mozilla now refuses to build Firefox for iOS devices as Apple forces browsers to use its own WebKit engine.

Added to this, Jay Sullivan, Co-founder, Mozilla, made the remarks at a panel at digital and music festival South by Southwest in Texas, saying that there were no plans to build an iOS browser despite the popularity of Apple devices.

Also, Apple’s own default web browser – Safari will continue to be dominant on iOS devices as you cannot change the default web browser to any other third party browser like Google Chrome.

Mozilla is taking another approach to develop for mobile devices by introducing their own Firefox mobile operating system. This is an open source HTML5 based OS which is particularly designed for manufacturers and networks as an economical alternative to Android.

Do you think Apple should open up a little or are they good the way they are, do you want Firefox for iOS?

Face Shapes, Hair That Will And Will Not Fit.

There are 5 different kind of face shapes ---- The Long, The Round, The Square, The Heart-Shaped and The Oval Face shapes...

Without a doubt, hair is the most important changeable feature we have.....It is imperative to take your face shape into account before choosing a hairstyle, there are more factors that come into play, coupling it with face shape to determine an accurate hairstyle and length...

LONG FACE SHAPE: Also known as OBLONG Face shape....If you have a long face shape, there are ofcourse hairstyles that look good and hairstyles that look bad on ya!....Here are some rules when choosing a hairstyle for a  long or oblong face shape....
(1) If you fix a straight hair, you can create more width with bangs. Bangs make your face appearshorter because they cover up a particularly large forehead. You can wear anything from blunt bangs to long, side-swept bangs.
(2) Chin-length bobs and cuts are also ideal for you because they create the illusion of width.
(3) Long, straight hair is a no-no on a long face shape because it drags the face down. However, you can break this "no long hair" rule if you have waves or curls. A lot body adds width to the sides of the face.
(4) Consider the uber-trendy long bob which is flattering on a long face. Ask your stylist for an "A-line long bob" where the back is about one and half inches shorter than the front.
(5) If you liike short hair, avoid short layers that add volume on top.

HEART-SHAPED FACE: Heart-shaped faces are wider up top, which can look a bit top heavy....Try shoulder-length bobs, long waves and shorter hair but without bangs..You can balance out the face with long, side swept bangs which draw attention down towards the eyes...The shortest pieces should hit your face at the arch of your brow. The longest pieces should hit the outer corners of eyes.Try a fringe bang across your forehead...

ROUND FACE SHAPE: As a round face shaped individual, your goal is to make the face appear slimmer from the sides to minimize the appearance of roundness...A great option for round faces are long layers, keep hair longer than the chin.
Gentle weaves also deflect the roundness of the face..Go for the "U' or the "V"-shaped cut if you mus retain long hair...Keep the back longer than the front-This means shorter on the sides and front than in the back....This allows for extra length without leaving you looking too "high school" plus it is a classic look for long hair thats universally considered sexy...Short hair should be strictly avoided...Ideally, hair should be cut at the collar bone or longer....

SQUARE FACE SHAPE: The difference between a square face and a round face lines in the angles.....Square faces have strong, angular features whereas a round face has soft features....
A haircut that softens the face is ideal for the square face shape...Try medium layers, Long bangs will help soften features..Bangs should never be short or box off at the edges...Avoid short bobs, extra long styles or any hair cut with sharp, angular lines.....

Lastly, OVAL FACE SHAPE: If you have an oval face shape, stop for a second and congratulate yourself..You have landed the most versatile face shape...You can wear almost any hair style..No matter what the length of your cut, you will look best with layers near your cheekbones, basically, whatever feature you want to highlight..
If you are petite, you want to avoid super long hair in the front because you risk looking like you are 10years old..Focus on a cut that adds width without elongating the face..Volumized layers will add width to the face...

The Oval shape is the ideal face to experiment with different types of bangs-be it blunt bangs across the forehead, side swept bangs, short or long bangs.....Although, generally every hair length can work for the oval face shape-Stay away from extremely long lengths and long layers.....Also avoid height at the crown of the head and extra short cuts.......
